Cybersecurity Internet crimes are rapidly on the rise with an increase of about 20 percent more reported cases last year. An online news source stated in May 2010 that, “Internet crime is evolving in ways we couldn’t have imagined just five years ago.” It is estimated that in 2009, approximately 2.5 million Canadians and 12 million Americans were victims of identify theft.
