Photo: Judy de Chantal When I planned a year-long trip to Europe with my ski friend Ilana, it was purely for fun and pleasure. We had invitations to visit across Europe in the parental homes of her relatives and other ski friends living back in British Columbia. Our plan was buy a van we could live and travel in, then winter in Switzerland where we could work and ski before returning to the Pacific Northwest where we both had jobs waiting
Thomas Creasey When I was in high school I loved to play basketball. In Alaska there isn’t much else to do. I wasn’t much of a church kind of guy, but my best friend who I loved to play basketball with always went to church

Emily Forshee When Tye asked me to marry him I got really excited about planning the wedding that I had always dreamed of. The first three months of wedding planning went fairly smooth, but I quickly learned that I didn’t have enough time to be a student 24/7 and plan my dream wedding, so I began to get worried.
Joelle Yamada I’ve been going to church since I was 8 days old. I was baptized at the age of ten and was helping to lead out in our youth group by the time I was 13. I’ve never really known a life without Christ, without grace or without church

Sarah Nutter When I was a junior in high school, I went through a minor case of depression. It started when I dropped out of my super-tough International Baccalaureate school. With three to six hours of homework a night, the workload was just too much for me

Photo: Carlton Mason As a little kid, I was fascinated by stories of how God intervened in people’s lives. I wanted to see God’s hand in my life, I just wasn’t sure if I was “important enough” to warrant His time

Photo: Paddy McCoy What a year it had been! I had changed jobs, and as a result was catapulted into a season of anxiety and depression. I was excited about my new job, but I was scared to death of the ramifications of being called into full time ministry. After surviving the year, I took a spiritual retreat so I could get away from all the noise and fears and struggles. I went to meet with God in the wilderness, and I was more than surprised with the message I received while there.

Photo: Dorothy Stiegler What amazes me about people is that even though some are faced with seemingly insurmountable odds, they move ahead with courage and hope. I’m inspired by their dreams and their determination to press on
