People sometimes are willing to promise to be loyal to God but sooner or later they do not keep such promises. When Nehemia is informed about such backsliding he acts rapidly.
11.2 The Levites in the Fields
The Levites do not receive any more tithes and offerings and therefore are forced to work in the fields in order to sustain themselves.
