Introduction

In a world that constantly pressures us to perform and compare, it’s easy to lose the sense of truly belonging. Romans 8:16 reminds us: we are God’s children—not because of our achievements, but by His unchanging “Yes” to us.

 Devotional

Paul writes in his letter to the Romans that the Holy Spirit testifies within us. This inner testimony isn’t a loud, outward sign but a gentle, steady assurance: “You belong to me, my child.”

• Identity beyond performance
  Our worth isn’t measured by grades, likes, or approval. When doubt creeps in, the Spirit whispers: “You are loved.”

• Intimate bond of relationship
  Children recognize their parents’ voice and know when they are called. Likewise, we hear His quiet voice in prayer and Scripture—not as pious phrases, but as a personal conversation.

• Encouragement in hard times
  When fear, loneliness, or guilt weigh us down, the Spirit awakens us: “You are accepted—even with all your weaknesses.”

• Call to sibling love
  Because we share the same Father, this testimony compels us to love and strengthen one another.

Lena was new at her school and often felt left out. In her religion class, the students were reading Romans 8:16. The teacher suggested everyone write an anonymous letter of encouragement to a classmate.
