5: How to Study the Bible — Singing with Inspiration

Growing in a Relationship With God has many wonderful steps in it. There are several beautiful hymns from which to choose as a theme due to all the changes that come along when we grow in our relationship with God. On page 31 we see that “the most powerful weapon is prayer” to help us through our growing times. Therefore, we will wish to sing
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus – Hymn 290 to keep learning every minute of the day in our journey. To help with this journey, Lord,
Give Me The Bible – Hymn 272 to instruct even more with the Holy Spirit encouraging along the way:
Hover O’er Me, Holy Spirit – Hymn 260.

Our time spent in study this week helps us to understand more of our Bible and how we are able to use it wisely. We need to
Take Time To Be Holy – Hymn 500 as we are encouraged in Sunday’s study time. Then, with this knowledge we are the able to sing
All To Jesus I Surrender – Hymn 309 as we are told in the second dot point on this day, “Surrender your time to God”.

Our place of Bible study time (Monday) is found in
A Quite Place – Hymn 503 where we are to be found
Sitting At The Feet Of Jesus which is found in our pre-1985 SDA Hymnal number 618.

Deep Bible Study (Tuesday) is found in one of our Theme Hymns
Give Me The Bible – Hymn 272 and we find that prayer time is a great helper for us:
At First I Prayed For Light – Hymn 488.

Blessings are given in abundance as we study God’s amazing Word on Wednesday:
Sent Forth By God’s Blessing – Hymn 407. These blessings are doubled as we share our studies and our precious God with others.

‘Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus (and God) – Hymn 524 lifts our hearts towards Heaven and as we “grow in Christ” (Thursday), our courage grows and we can go forward to T
ake The Name Of Jesus With You – Hymn 474 as we “take the time and effort”.

“The purpose of Bible study is to know God and forever grow in your relationship with Him” (Friday). We are able to share more just as we are told on Tuesday because the outcome is all about
You That Know The Lord – Hymn 583.
