6: Spiritual Gifts — Singing with Inspiration

Oh, the beauty of studying this quarter’s lessons. We will learn so much of the Love of God (and our Saviour, Jesus) which stands out in so many pages of this quarter. Trying to choose just one hymn for the Theme Hymn was almost impossible, but these ones stood out all through the lesson pamphlet from which you may choose:
Hymn 79 – O Love Of God,
Hymn 349 – God Is Love and then in seeing God’s amazing love we can
Hymn 600 – Hold Fast and
Hymn 602 – O Brother, Be Faithful.

“God gave the church spiritual gifts in order to promote unity through diversity” says Sabbath afternoon’s introduction to this week of study. We sing this in verse two of
Hymn 214 – We Have This Hope and in verse 2 of
Hymn 234 – Christ Is The World’s True Light. Unity will be in a number of places in this week of study time.

Sunday brings us the word “faith” which is “the most basic gift” for us all. We may pray and sing
O For A Faith – Hymn 533 and then encourage others with
Hymn 602 – O Brother, Be Faithful once again.

The many gifts that are listed for us on Tuesday are built on a solid foundation from our gracious God, and this is sung in verse 3 of
Hymn 235 – Christ Is Made A Sure Foundation where we pray for these gifts to be granted to each of us.

Hymn 81 – Though I Speak With Tongues adds to our Wednesday’s study,

“The Gift Of Prophecy” on Thursday is found in
Hymn 413 – God Has Spoken By His Prophets and helps us to understand this topic further.

Sister Ellen White encourages each person on Friday to “go forth to labour, trusting in the Lord”, just as
Hymn 377 – Go Forth, Go Forth With Christ.
