9: Sin, The Gospel, and the Law — Singing with Inspiration

Growing in a Relationship With God has many wonderful steps in it. There are several beautiful hymns from which to choose as a theme due to all the changes that come along when we grow in our relationship with God. On page 31 we see that “the most powerful weapon is prayer” to help us through our growing times. Therefore, we will wish to sing
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus – Hymn 290 to keep learning every minute of the day in our journey. To help with this journey, Lord,
Give Me The Bible – Hymn 272 to instruct even more with the Holy Spirit, encouraging along the way:
Hover O’er Me, Holy Spirit – Hymn 260.

Just as Jesus grew tired and weary, needing time with His Father God, we also can see ourselves and those around us:
I Saw One Weary – Hymn 441 knowing that we all do need a
Sweet Hour Of Prayer – Hymn 478. It is then that we remember “our faith will help us stand, and faith comes by hearing the Word of God”:
Hymn 517 – My Faith Looks Up To Thee (Sunday).

Just “as Jesus was humble” (Monday) we can find this for ourselves in
Hymn 406 – Love Consecrates The Humblest Act.

We are reminded on Tuesday that we need God’s words so much:
Give Me The Bible – Hymn 272.

Just as the “love of Jesus is at the very centre of the law” (Wednesday) we are encouraged to reciprocate and sing
I Will Sing Of Jesus Love – Hymn 183 all because of what our precious Jesus did for us on the cross at Calvary where I can then say:
I Am Coming To The Cross – Hymn 307.

“Our response to Him, and, ultimately, our obedience to Him as an overflow of our love, shows the true nature of our relationship with Him” (Thursday) and this is revealed in
I Love Thee – Hymn 236 and
O, How I Love Jesus – Hymn 248. “Our ears must be opened and our hearts receptive” and we are able to request this in
Hymn 326 – Open My Eyes, That I May See.
