Commentary by Edwin Reynolds:
"In the long story of Genesis 43 I see some things that remind me of Revelation. For instance, the word “abomination” is first used in this chapter. That is how the Egyptians viewed shepherds, and it led to a separation into two groups. Thankfully God didn’t see the Hebrews as abominable. In Revelation 21:27, we find the last usage of the word– those who work abomination are not found in the book of life. The scene of Joseph eating with his brothers reminds me of that wonderful marriage supper of the Lamb where the chosen ones shall gather at the long silver table to eat food served by King Jesus. And at that table the ungodly will find no place. They can’t enter Heaven because they did things God calls an “abomination.” Also, it was awesome to see Reuben and Judah willing to sacrifice so much to save their little brother. They passed the test Joseph designed and they didn’t even know they were being tested! Their volunteer spirit reminds me of this verse: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. (Luke 9:24)" β€οΈ Jump to Daily Bible Reading https://www.revivalandreformation.org/bhp/en/bible/gen/43 Our accounts in other social networks:
