Pastor Köhler stands in one of the most familiar places in New Zealand and is reminded of the Good Shepherd. Sheep appear throughout the entire Bible, and Jesus famously spoke about a Shepherd who left his 99 sheep to go and find one that was lost. He is that Good Shepherd, and He doesn’t see His people as faces in a crowd, but He knows their name. He knows your name, and He finds you when you’re lost. This story brings into perspective the mission, often referred to as a “field,” but really about the sheep, the people in the field. Every person matters to God and will be saved and brought home by Jesus, the Good Shepherd. About the series: From the Heart is a weekly devotional series in which Pastor Köhler reflects on what it means to be grounded in the Bible and focused on the mission, collectively and individually. Each episode is grounded in the four pillars of the Seventh-day Adventist Church strategic plan: Communion with God, Identity in Christ, Unity through the Holy Spirit, and Mission for All. The series connects biblical faith to everyday life, sharing short reflections and glimpses of how God is at work through the Adventist Church around the world.
