The leaders of the scenic Wiikwemkoong First Nation island community decided to put their time, their energy and their money into building the spirits of their youth, and after research they discovered there was one character trait that would make the difference between success and failure, and that character trait was resiliency—the ability of a person to weather the storms of adversity and change. And so, their solution: take the youth on a canoe trip out into the wilderness, and let nature, and the Great Creator of nature teach their children this valuable lesson of resiliency.
