The Warrior Who Cried Out to God

Leamo grew up as a Samburu warrior in the rugged highlands of northern Kenya, where cattle raids and conflict were part of his daily life. Fear and hardship were constant companions. But in a moment of desperation, he cried out to a God he did not yet know—and that prayer marked the beginning of a remarkable journey. Through the work of Adventist World Radio and partners like Mara Vision Outreach, the gospel is reaching even the most remote communities. Literacy classes are opening doors for people who have never had the chance to read, and solar-powered AWR Godpods are placing the Bible within reach of those who have no electricity, no internet and often no access to traditional mission outreach. For Leamo, who could not read, the Godpod became a lifeline. As he listened, he began to understand the Bible for the first time. His faith grew, and before long he was sharing what he was learning with others around him. Today, Leamo is helping other warriors learn to read, pray and discover the hope found in God’s Word. Stories like his remind us that even the most remote places are not beyond the reach of the gospel.
