Lesson 4 Sharing God’s Mission – 4.2 Abraham’s Love for Everyone

In this Bible passage, Abraham demonstrates an impressive quality: his love for all people, regardless of their tribe, race, or nation. This is an important lesson in charity and compassion that is inspiring to us all.
In the story where God reveals to Abraham that He will destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah due to their grievous sins, Abraham shows extraordinary compassion. Even though he knew the wickedness of the inhabitants of these cities, he humbly and reverently interceded with God on their behalf. He prayed for the salvation of the people without distinguishing between the righteous and the wicked.
Abraham’s love and intercession for these sinful cities illustrate that he saw hope for repentance and redemption in every person. He trusted in God’s love and the potential for even the most severe sinners to repent and turn to God as long as they live. Abraham’s attitude is an exceptional example of universal love and compassion, reminding us that it is never too late to hope for God’s goodness and mercy.
The story of Abraham and his love for all people, regardless of their sins, encourages us to seek charity and compassion in our own hearts. It teaches us that love for our fellow human beings, even those who are strangers to us or who have seemingly committed unforgivable mistakes, should be a central value that we cultivate in our lives.

October 22, 2023—and We’re Still Disappointed.

by Loren Seibold | 22 October 2023 | I remember a pastoral colleague of another denomination some years ago asking me about the origin of my denomination. I told her about the Great Disappointment of October 22, 1844, when hopeful believers expected Jesus to return. She listened for a bit and said (kindly but matter-of-factly), […] Source: https://atoday.org/october-22-2023-and-we-are-still-disappointed/

Source: https://atoday.org/%d1%82%d0%be-%d0%ba%d0%be%d0%bc%d1%83-%d0%bf%d0%b8%d1%81%d0%b0%d0%bb-%d0%b4%d0%b0%d0%bd%d0%b8%d0%b8%d0%bb-%d0%b8%d0%bc%d0%b5%d0%b5%d1%82-%d0%b7%d0%bd%d0%b0%d1%87%d0%b5%d0%bd%d0%b8%d0%b5/
