12: The Hour of Glory: The Cross and Ressurection – Teaching Plan

December 14, 2024 By admin

Key Thought : John presents Jesus as dying in shame, but it is, at the same time, His glorious enthronement as the Savior in fulfilling the hour.
December 21, 2024

1. Have a volunteer read John 18:33 to 19:5.

  1. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
  2. What did Jesus and Pilate talk about?
  3. Personal Application: How do you understand Jesus as the truth compared to the world’s understanding of truth?” Share your thoughts.
  4. Case Study: One of your relatives states, “Why did Pilate want to release Jesus when all the religious leaders wanted Him crucified?.” How would you respond to your relative?

2. Have a volunteer read John 19:25-30.

  1. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
  2. What happened with Jesus’ mother at the cross?
  3. Personal Application: Were you ever concerned about who would take care of your children or elderly parents if something happened to you? Did you make provision for them? Share your thoughts.
  4. Case Study: One of your friends states, “When Jesus said, “It is finished”, what did He mean? Was everything over? Was the whole plan of salvation accomplished then?” How would you respond to your friend?

3. Have a volunteer read John 20:1-10.

  1. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point in this text is.
  2. What was the importance to us about these verses?
  3. Personal Application: How is your faith? Do you need evidence like Thomas? When things go bad, do you wonder about your relationship with God? Share your thoughts.
  4. Case Study: One of your neighbors states: “Why did it mention the folded clothes and face cloth here? One Rabbi wrote a book about how the disciples stole Jesus’ body away to make it look like a resurrection. But how does his “evidence” match up in these verses?.” How would you respond to your neighbor?

4. Have a volunteer read John 20:11-18.

  1. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
  2. What did Mary say that indicated she didn’t understand what was going on?
  3. Personal Application: Can a person believe there is eternal life and a resurrection if Jesus did not raise from the tomb?? Share your thoughts.
  4. Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.

(Truth that is not lived, that is not imparted, loses its life-giving power, its healing virtue. Its blessings can be retained only as it is shared.”Ministry of Healing, p. 148).
