In this video, Pastor Ted Wilson talks about how we can survive the storms of the last days by clinging to God’s Word. Have you been in a storm, lightning, or thunder? Any of these situations would be a frightening experience. Imagine how much worse it would be on the sea with waves crashing over you while the storm swirls around. Did you know that Apostle Paul had been in this same situation? If you read Acts 27, you can imagine the crew and passengers getting scattered all around the ship. “On the third day, we threw the ship’s tackle overboard with our own hands. Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us, all hope that we would be saved was finally given up” (verses 18-20). Despite this, Paul hadn’t given up. As a fact, this was not his first deadly encounter. In 2 Corinthians 11:24-27, he “received forty stripes minus one” five times from the Jews. He was also beaten thrice with rods, stoned once, and shipwrecked thrice. Aside from these, he had been through a lot more. Nevertheless, he remained firm in his faith. Amid the storm, Paul managed to stay calm on the ship. He advised the captain with faith-filled words of encouragement and even comforted the passengers. In Acts 27:22-23, he told them, “I urge you to take heart for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to Whom I belong and Whom I serve.” Significantly, Paul had peace and courage because he had absolute confidence in the Word. He believed that it would be just as God said. This story reminds us that a relentlessly furious storm is coming. According to the Testimonies for the Church, volume 8, p. 315, the perils of the last days have come. “We need now the sword of the Lord to cut to the very soul and marrow of fleshly lusts, appetites, and passions.” With this, “the thoughts must be centered upon God.” In addition, we must take the “helmet of salvation” and the “sword of the Spirit.” This sword is the Word of God. It has withstood the test of time over the centuries. Likewise, the prophecies have been fulfilled on time. Consequently, other things will take place, just as the Bible reveals. However, we don’t need to worry. Revelation 19:10 promises us the wonderful gift of Jesus’ testimony. It is the Spirit of Prophecy, our guide in this end time. Let us make Jesus the North Pole, the Bible our compass, and the Spirit of Prophecy our light. By then, we can reach our final destination with joy and peace. Finally, let us press together as we move forward in mission, proclaiming the three angels’ message and the news that Jesus is coming soon. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6auLZNEAsg

The Local Church: Merritt SDA Church – “Caring for the Community”
#BCStewardshipStories In this video, Pastor Charles Lomudak, some leaders of the Merritt Church, and a couple who was blessed by the Merritt Church Friendship Outreach Ministry, share about the compassionate spirit of their small church and the appreciation they have “gained” from their community for their active spiritual role in their city. That couple themselves are now baptized members of the Merritt Church because of that ministry. Yes, the church have added creativity as they minister for the people in Merritt and have become the hands and feet of Jesus in their community. I remember visiting the Merritt Church on one occasion when the responsible leader for that ministry asked the members who were actively involved in that church ministry to stand up. 95% of the members did that! That ministry has resulted in others joining the church because of the favourable impression of such ministry in their heart – an “entry opportunity” for them to “meet” Jesus. Every church has talented members who, in one way or another, and inspired by the Holy Spirit, can make positive contributions by supporting their local church to minister for their local community. The reality is that if we as a church are just “watering our own garden” and/or “protecting our personal aquarium” and not making an impact in our community, we are just nurturing ourselves. That aspect is important, however that alone does not fulfill the Great Commission given to us by Jesus. I humbly pray that this video will inspire many of us, myself included, to be more willing, creative & active in sharing Christ with those around us. I am certain that this video will capture the attention of our church members and encourage all of us to use our God-given talents for the expansion of His Kingdom. Our Heavenly Father invites us to leave our comfort zone and get involved in the Master’s work by allowing ourselves to be used by Him to put in practice simple principles like being attentions, kind, genuine, and friendly with those whom we get in contact with. This video/testimony will spark a light in our hearts and invite us to be more proactive in sharing the blessings that we have received from heaven – free salvation in Christ – with our neighbourhoods. I personally pray for a complete revival in our hearts as we consecrate our lives to serve God’s children and share Jesus’ message in practical ways, by His grace! ~Wesley Torres

Leaving Behind the Denominational Baggage that Separates Us from Jesus
By Edison García-Creitoff | 15 July 2021 | Few will be surprised to hear me say that there is a tendency to inflexibility and rigidity in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The church “froze” in the 20th century, and is finding it difficult to adapt to the 21st. A false identity took hold: that what defines […] Source: https://atoday.org/leaving-behind-the-church-baggage-that-separates-us-from-jesus/
