Total Member Involvement [A Special Appeal for Us] – Pastor Ted Wilson

June 23, 2022 By admin

In this episode, Pastor Ted Wilson talks about total member involvement, a global campaign of the Adventist church wherein every member is encouraged to get actively involved in ministry and mission. In Luke 10, a lawyer challenged Jesus, asking what he must do to inherit eternal life. The answer was to "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, love your neighbor as yourself." When the lawyer asked who that neighbor was, Jesus told him about the story of the good Samaritan, who encountered a man attacked by robbers as he was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho. A priest saw the man but passed by. Another religious leader came and saw him but passed by, too. But when the Samaritan came, he took pity of him, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. When Jesus asked who among those three men was a good neighbor, the lawyer said it was "the one who had mercy on him," referring to the Samaritan. The Samaritan represents Jesus, Who puts on us and clothes us with His robe of righteousness. We are to follow His footsteps by doing medical missionary work in comprehensive health ministry, helping people physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. With this, Elder Ted quotes from Ellen White’s book, The Desire of Ages, page 504, saying, "The lesson is no less needed in the world today than when it fell from the lips of Jesus. Selfishness and cold formality have well-nigh extinguished the fire of love, and dispelled the graces that should make fragrant the character. Many who profess His name have lost sight of the fact that Christians are to represent Christ. Unless there is practical self-sacrifice for the good of others, in the family circle, in the neighborhood, in the church, and wherever we may be, then whatever our profession, we are not Christians." May God bless us as we engage in total member involvement, following Jesus’ footsteps, doing something for Him and others, and pointing them to the Master Physician and Teacher and His soon second coming. ¿Son ingenuos los adventistas progresistas?

June 23, 2022 By admin

por Charles Scriven  |   23 de junio, 2022  | Admitamos primero que la palabra “progresista” es tanto un problema como una solución. Inside Track: Adventist Health Has New Software to Keep Tabs on Employees’ Vaccinations

June 23, 2022 By admin

Adventist Health’s new software allows its leadership to instantly view compliance tracking at every level of its organization. Nurses’ opposition to vaccine mandates has become a lightning rod throughout the pandemic, with some people staging protests in California and across the country. The Adventist denomination is an advocate of “responsible immunization.” 23 June 2022 | Adventist […] Source: https://atoday.org/inside-track-adventist-health-has-new-software-to-keep-tabs-on-employees-vaccinations/

Friday: Further Thought ~ Israel in Egypt

June 23, 2022 By admin

Further Thought:

Ellen G. White, “Joseph and His Brothers,” in Patriarchs and Prophets, Pages 233-240.

“The life of Joseph illustrates the life of Christ. It was envy that moved the brothers of Joseph to sell him as a slave; they hoped to prevent him from becoming greater than themselves.

And when he was carried to Egypt, they flattered themselves that they were to be no more troubled with his dreams, that they had removed all possibility of their fulfillment. But their own course was overruled by God to bring about the very event that they designed to hinder. So the Jewish priests and elders were jealous of Christ, fearing that He would attract the attention of the people from them. They put Him to death, to prevent Him from becoming king, but they were thus bringing about this very result.

Joseph, through his bondage in Egypt, became a savior to his father’s family; yet this fact did not lessen the guilt of his brothers. So the crucifixion of Christ by His enemies made Him the Redeemer of mankind, the Savior of the fallen race, and Ruler over the whole world; but the crime of His murderers was just as heinous as though God’s providential hand had not controlled events for His own glory and the good of man.

As Joseph was sold to the heathen by his own brothers, so Christ was sold to His bitterest enemies by one of His disciples. Joseph was falsely accused and thrust into prison because of his virtue; so Christ was despised and rejected because His righteous, self-denying life was a rebuke to sin; and though guilty of no wrong, He was condemned upon the testimony of false witnesses. And Joseph’s patience and meekness under injustice and oppression, his ready forgiveness and noble benevolence toward his unnatural brothers, represent the Savior’s uncomplaining endurance of the malice and abuse of wicked men, and His forgiveness, not only of His murderers, but of all who have come to Him confessing their sins and seeking pardon.” — Ellen G. White, Patriarchs and Prophets, Pages 239, 240.

Discussion Questions:
  1. Once Jacob died, Joseph’s brothers feared that now Joseph would get revenge. What does this teach about the guilt that they still harbored? What does Joseph’s reaction teach us about forgiveness for the guilty?
  2. What other parallels can you find between the life of Joseph and Jesus?
  3. Dwell on the fact that though God intimately knows the future, we are still free in the choices we make. How do we reconcile these two ideas?

<–Thursday

Amen!(0)
