Genesis 37 | Believe His Prophets | Daily Bible Reading Guide 🕊

Commentary by Edwin Reynolds:
"What I learned from this part of Joseph’s story about Joseph's betrayal by his brothers is that God has plans for each and every one of us. Everything that happens, good or bad, God can work out to benefit our lives. As we read Genesis 38 and onwards into Joseph's story, we see how God planned everything for eventual good. Likewise, you and I might face trials, temptations, hardships, but let us not forget that if we surrender our lives to Him, He will direct our path and take care of us. He has certainly done that for me. So let us be faithful until the reward. God will never put us in a position which we cannot handle in His strength. We are blessed that we have God that can turn things upside-down! Amen! How to Deal with Excruciating Pain

February 18, 2022 By admin

If you’ve ever smashed your thumb with a hammer or experienced the death of a loved one, you know what excruciating pain feels like. The word “excruciating” comes from two Latin words: “ex” as in the English word “exit” meaning “out,” and “crucia” referring to the crucifix or the cross. So, “excruciating” literally means “out of the cross” or the pain Jesus suffered when He was crucified.
If you are right now facing excruciating pain, Jesus understands, and we want to share with you the way your Saviour dealt with severe pain. Our hope is that His example will help you. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=temFC51jqaY

Adventist Health and World Vision Donate Bicycles to Students in North Mexico; and other world news

February 18, 2022 By admin

This week on ANN Adventist Health and World Vision International recently donated dozens of bicycles to help middle school and high school students in North Mexico. The project called “Bicycles That Change Lives” aims to reduce school dropout rates and encourage physical activity. Adventist Health facilitated the delivery of more than 110 bicycles in coordinated efforts with leaders of Montemorelos University, an Adventist university in Mexico and municipal leaders of General Terán, Allende and Montemorelos districts in the Nuevo Leon State in December 2021. An additional 250 bicycles will be delivered this month with five more deliveries planned throughout the year. An Australian-produced children’s show that has brought the story of Jesus into the homes of thousands of families around the world is celebrating its 100th episode. The King’s Kids will celebrate the milestone with a special premiere of the 100th episode next Friday evening February 18. Notching 100 episodes is a significant achievement for The King’s Kids, which is a collaboration between Adventist Media, Abide Family Ministries, and the South Pacific Division. The program was launched in 2020 to assist and minister to families during the first extended COVID-19 lockdown. Since then, it has become an international hit, broadcast in more than 70 countries worldwide, filling a gap in quality Christian TV content for children. Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta and Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital have been named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 – 2022 “Best Hospitals for Maternity” list. The report highlighted their national ranking with low rates of newborn complications, early deliveries, and C-section rates. In the US state of Florida, elementary school teacher Terry Greer had a COVID battle that caught national attention. Coach Greer, as his students call him, came back to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at AdventHealth for their care for him during his time in the hospital. A Filipino filmmaker Jasper Ivan Iturriaga has a passion for reaching the unreached. He is also a missionary, pastor, landscape photographer, and content creator. He goes around the world capturing great moments and imparting inspiration through the content he shares. Iturriaga went to Brooke’s Point, Palawan, to visit some missionary friends who work for the Philippine Adventist Medical Aviation Services. It extends medical help to people living in remote communities in the Philippines. After a few days of immersing himself in the culture, Iturriaga realized the great need for education in the community that is to build a jungle school funded entirely by society hit him. Adventist Medical Aviation Servies airlifted the construction materials, fathers worked together at the school site, and everyone played a role in building the school. In three months, the school was established. The jungle school in Palawan, Philippines is now running. The church continues to extend help and support in places that needed immediate response the most. Sabbath: Jesus, the Perfect Sacrifice

February 18, 2022 By admin

Jesus on the Cross

Image © Pacific Press

Sabbath Afternoon

Read for This Week’s Study: Hebrews 9:15, Genesis 15:6–21, Jeremiah 34:8–22, Ephesians 3:14–19, Heb.7:27, Hebrews 10:10, Hebrews 9:22–28.
Memory Text: “For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified” (Hebrews 10:14, NKJV).

The idea that a man found guilty and executed on a cross should be worshiped as God was offensive to the ancient mind. Sparse reference to the cross in Roman literature shows their aversion to the idea. For the Jews, the law declared that a man impaled on a tree was cursed by God (Deuteronomy 21:23).

Thus, the first motifs that we find in the Christian paintings of the catacombs were the peacock (supposedly symbolizing immortality), a dove, the athlete’s victory palm, and the fish. Later, other themes appeared: Noah’s ark; Abraham sacrificing the ram instead of Isaac; Daniel in the lions’ den; Jonah being spit out by the fish; a shepherd carrying a lamb; or depictions of miracles like the healing of the paralytic and the raising of Lazarus. These were symbols of salvation, victory, and care. The cross, on the other hand, conveyed a sense of defeat and shame. Yet, it was the cross that became the emblem of Christianity. In fact, Paul simply called the gospel “the word of the cross” (1 Corinthians 1:18, ESV).

This week we will look at the cross as it appears in the book of Hebrews.

Study this week’s lesson to prepare for Sabbath, February 26.

Sunday–>

Amen!(0)
