Sunday: The Sin of Moses: Part 1
Time and again, even amid their apostasy and wilderness wanderings, God miraculously provided for the children of Israel. That is, however undeserving they were (and often remained that way) God’s grace flowed out to them. We, too, today, are recipients of His grace, however much we are undeserving of it, as well. After all, it wouldn’t be grace if we deserved it, would it?
And, besides the abundance of food that the Lord had miraculously provided for them in the wilderness, another manifestation of His grace was the water, without which they would quickly perish, especially in a dry, hot, and desolate desert. Talking about that experience, Paul wrote: “And all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ” (1 Corinthians 10:4, NKJV). Ellen G. White also added that “Wherever in their journeyings they wanted water, there from the clefts of the rock it gushed out beside their encampment.” — Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 411.
Read Numbers 20:1-13. What happened here, and how do we understand the Lord’s punishment for Moses because of what he had done?
On one level, it’s not hard to see and understand Moses’ frustration. After all that the Lord had done for them, the signs and wonders and miraculous deliverance, here they were, finally, on the borders of the Promised Land. And then — what? Suddenly, they are short on water, and so they begin to conspire against Moses and Aaron. Was it that the Lord could not provide water for them now, as He had done for them so often before? Of course not; He could have, and was going to do so again.
However, look at Moses’ words as he struck the rock, even twice. “Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” (Numbers 20:10, NKJV). One can all but hear the anger in his voice, for he begins by calling them “rebels.”
The problem wasn’t so much his anger itself, which was bad enough but understandable — but when He said “Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” as if he or any human being could bring water out of a rock. In his anger, he seemed to forget at the moment that it was only the power of God, working among them, that could do such a miracle. He, of all people, should have known that.
| How often do we say or even do things in a fit of anger, even if we believe the anger is justified? How can we learn to stop, pray, and seek the power of God to say and do right before we say and do wrong instead? |

To Whom Daniel Was Writing Makes All the Difference
Richard W. Coffen | 17 December 2021 | The Bible! We reverently call it “God’s Word.” When we use this terminology, we imply that “word” does not denote a single term, such as a noun, verb, adverb, adjective, or preposition, but a message. A synonym is “communication.” So let’s start by analyzing the process of […] Source: https://atoday.org/to-whom-daniel-was-writing-makes-all-the-difference/

Psalm 28 – With 12-Year-Old John Dias
When God is silent, thank Him for answering your prayer. That seems odd, but the reality of being a Christian is that praying to God is not like holding a magic lamp in your hands, rubbing the lamp, the LORD pops out, and gives you whatever you ask. Sometimes, as David discovered in Psalm 28, it seems like God is silent. This Psalm was written when King David was under strong temptation to be drawn away with the wicked. The first 5 verses he is crying out to the LORD for deliverance and judgment upon the wicked, and in the last 4 verses David is thanking the LORD for hearing his prayer although he sees no visible evidence that his prayer has been answered. Deadly Tornadoes Hit 6 US States and Kill Over 88 People; and other world news
This week on ANN Over the weekend of December 10th, deadly tornadoes tore across six US states. More than 88 people have been confirmed dead and it is expected that number will rise. North American Division Adventist Community Services (ACS) has been working to keep up with the latest situation in the US states of Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, Arkansas, Missouri and Mississippi. Assessment is taking place at present and three of the North American Division conferences, or administrative offices, are actively putting together their ACS teams. The North American Division is supporting these efforts and has been in direct contact with conferences in that area and nearby: Kentucky-Tennessee, South Central, Arkansas-Louisiana, and Georgia-Cumberland conferences. An Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Community Center was inaugurated in Nouakchott, the capital of the West African country of Mauritania. The ceremony took place on November 2 in El Mina. The new center was built with 34,000 plastic bottles filled with sand. The thermoregulatory building has three floors and was made with concern for environmental protection and recycling of plastic waste. The bottles were collected by community young people. Some of them were brought because they had become a precious commodity. The cost of the project was around $ 117, 000. It was co-financed by ADRA International and ADRA Belgium. This initiative is part of ADRA’s capacity building activities through education and training in small trades. In Brazil, representatives of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) arrived in southern Bahia on Friday, December 10, to assess flood damage and initiate emergency response measures for 24 towns in the region. Since December 7, torrential rains and the collapse of a dam in the interior of Minas Gerais have contributed to widespread problems in southern Bahia. An extratropical cyclone that occurred on December 9 increased the damage, leading the Government to declare a state of public calamity in the territory. ADRA director for the state of Bahia, Leonardo Mendes, announced their first priority will be the distribution of drinking water to residents. ADRA International is also mobilizing resources that will be used in the response, based on the diagnosis and more immediate needs of families affected by the disaster. AdventHealth provides health screenings to student athletes in several of its US markets, including in Volusia County, Florida, where screenings have helped identify and address risk factors like cardiac conditions. Check out the difference it made in the life of one student athlete, Ethan Piazza. More from AdventHealth: (link) March 19 is Global Youth Day. It’s a time when young people from all over the world take time to “Be the Sermon” in their communities.
