Adventist Church Elects Two Key Positions in Their Annual Spring Meeting; and other world news
This is the latest news from Adventist News Network: During the 2021 Spring Meeting on April 13, the Adventist Church’s Executive Committee elected Paul Douglas as the new General Conference (GC) Treasurer and Erton Köhler as Executive Secretary. Douglas, director for the GC Auditing Service since 2006, will replace Juan Rafael Prestol-Puesán when he retires on August 1, 2021. Meanwhile, current South American Division President Köhler will take the place of G. T. Ng, who will retire on June 1, 2021. In the Morazán state of eastern El Salvador, Adventist Master Guides joined the call to put out forest fires across the Arambala mountains. More than 20 young people endured the risky journey. Each volunteer made the trip four times up and down the terrain, transporting water to firefighters, national civil police, civil protection agents, and other volunteers working to weaken the fires. In Mexico, the Global Summits Institute (GSI) nominated Marco Antonio Castro, director of the School of Dentistry at Montemorelos University, as one of the 100 top doctors in the world for 2022. The GSI recognizes dental professionals who exemplify clinical excellence, innovation, research, organizational leadership, and entrepreneurship in the healthcare industry. In place of the postponed General Conference Session, the Adventist Church will be holding a virtual Global Campmeeting on May 19 – 23, 2021. Over 350 online seminars will be offered in six different tracks: discipleship, education, health ministries, media, missions, and theology. Dr. Barry Black, Alejandro Bullón, Dr. David Williams, and Dr. Michael-John Von Hörsten will serve as keynote speakers. More details and registration are available at https://2021.campmeeting.com/.
