SociaLight 04. La preghiera come stile di vita

April 7, 2021 By admin

Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QawDBsyjdWg

Be Still, and Know

April 7, 2021 By admin

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10.

In a life wholly devoted to the good of others, the Saviour found it necessary to turn aside from ceaseless activity and contact with human needs, to seek retirement and unbroken communion with His Father. As the throng that had followed Him depart, He goes into the mountains, and there, alone with God, pours out His soul in prayer for these suffering, sinful, needy ones…. All who are under the training of God need the quiet hour for communion with their own hearts, with nature, and with God. In them is to be revealed a life that is not in harmony with the world, its customs, or its practises; and they need to have a personal experience in obtaining a knowledge of the will of God. We must individually hear Him speaking to the heart.

When every other voice is hushed, and in quietness we wait before Him, the silence of the soul makes more distinct the voice of God. He bids us, “Be still, and know that I am God.” This is the effectual preparation for all labor for God. Amidst the hurrying throng, and the strain of life’s intense activities, he who is thus refreshed, will be surrounded with an atmosphere of light and peace. He will receive a new endowment of both physical and mental strength. His life will breathe out a fragrance, and will reveal a divine power that will reach men’s hearts.—The Ministry of Healing, 58.

In the midst of this maddening rush, God is speaking. He bids us come apart and commune with Him…. Not a pause for a moment in His presence, but personal contact with Christ, to sit down in companionship with Him—this is our need.—Education, 260, 261.

Dear Friends,

What an interesting time in which to live. It seems like every day we hear of new inventions to make life easier and more enjoyable. Yet, with all of the modern inventions, life seems much busier and more complicated. Some of the problem is because we are constantly stimulating our mind until it is overstimulated and overwhelmed. From our first waking moments until we go to bed for the night, we are bombarded with the media. We watch television, listen to music, talk on the cell phone, play computer games until we have little time for anything else. The pleasures that this world has to offer are fleeting and temporary at best. In this mad rush for happiness and peace of mind in this sinful, old planet, there often is lacking the very element in our life that will bring true happiness, true peace— the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to our heart.

God’s Holy Word tells us, “And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” Isa 32:17, 18 Our Dear Saviour offers us this true peace and happiness that we so much desire. He pleads, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matt 11:28 When we come to Him for that rest, we must give Him every aspect of our life. He promises, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jer 29:13 Truly, “the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.” Matt 13:44-46 “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?” Luke 9:23-25

There is a song by E. A. Hoffman, which illustrates this very principle. It would be well to meditate upon its message.

*You have longed for sweet peace, and for faith to increase, And have earnestly, fervently prayed; But you cannot have rest, or be perfectly blest Until all on the altar is laid. Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid? Your heart, does the Spirit control? You can only be blest and have peace and sweet rest, As you yield Him your body and soul.

Would you walk with the Lord, in the light of His Word, And have peace and contentment alway, You must do His sweet will, to be free from all ill, On the altar your all you must lay. Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid? Your heart, does the Spirit control? You can only be blest and have peace and sweet rest, As you yield Him your body and soul.

Oh, we never can know what the Lord will bestow Of the blessings for which we have prayed, Till our body and soul He doth fully control, And our all on the altar is laid. Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid? Your heart, does the Spirit control? You can only be blest and have peace and sweet rest, As you yield Him your body and soul.

Who can tell all the love He will send from above, And how happy our hearts will be made, Of the fellowship sweet we shall share at His feet, When our all on the altar is laid? Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid? Your heart, does the Spirit control? You can only be blest and have peace and sweet rest, As you yield Him your body and soul.

May we find that peace and true happiness that only our Great Creator and Redeemer offers is my prayer.

Rose

Pastor Mark Finley Reminds Us that God Will Help Us Survive Through Times of Trouble

April 6, 2021 By admin

CHAPTER 7 – HOW TO SURVIVE WHEN THE ECONOMY COLLAPSES We are just beginning to experience the long-term economic consequences of COVID-19 on our personal lives and our families. The short-term consequences with thousands dead and hundreds of thousands more sick were bad enough, but there are significant additional consequences that society now faces. The economic impact of the pandemic is hitting many families full force. Many of the unemployed during the crisis are going back to work, but they are still experiencing the effects of lost income from their time off, and the debts they incurred. The stock market plummeted
during the pandemic, with millions of people losing almost all their life savings. The entire world economy is on extremely shaky footing, and we wonder whether life will ever be the same. The economic picture for the foreseeable future is dire. Many of the businesses forced to shut down because of the lockdowns may never recover. In a report to Adventist Church leaders, investment specialist Tim Aka made this astute observation: “Many people are living paycheck to paycheck with little or no savings.” The results of the coronavirus pandemic has thrown them into a financial dilemma.
