Instead of a Holiday, these Young People Decided to Help Others; and other world news
Here is some inspiring news from the Seventh-day Adventist Church community: In Brazil, more than 9,000 young people participated in the Caleb Mission Project in January. They contributed and volunteered in missionary work including Bible studies, blood donation, food collection, and home renovations, particularly in flood-affected areas. The project aims to mobilize youth across South America to dedicate some of their vacation time to evangelism in places with no Adventist presence. It has become the biggest youth movement in South America. In Poland, the Regional Medical Chamber in Łódź presented Adventist doctor, Tomasz Karauda, an award 'for contributions to health protection' on February 2. Dr. Karauda, with the Kulczyk Foundation, donated over 5 million US dollars to the Doctors for Doctors Foundation. The fund was used at a critical time to purchase personal protective equipment for Polish doctors. The honorary badge is a departmental civilian decoration awarded by the Polish Minister of Health. In the Inter-American Division, Zarith Méndez topped the quinquennial Bible Connect competition on January 30. Answering 99 out of 100 multiple-choice questions correctly, she outclassed the other three participants. Méndez said studying the Bible has changed her life entirely and helped her get involved with public campus ministries at her university. She will represent the IAD as a youth delegate during the Adventist World Church's General Conference Session next year in Indiana, USA. The competition aims to motivate more than 1.5 million young people across Inter-America to study and apply God's Word. Watch more of these news features here at ANN (adventist.news). Aunt Sevvy, why hasn’t Jesus returned yet?
12 February 2021 | Dear Aunt Sevvy, My great-grandparents looked forward to Jesus’ soon coming. My grandparents believed they would be alive to see Jesus come. My parents clung to the Blessed Hope knowing they’d wake up to see Jesus in the clouds. They are all at rest, and we’re still here. The world seems […] Source: https://atoday.org/67720-2/
Our Churches and the CDC Regulations
by Ronald L. Preast | 12 February 2021 | At first glance the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regulations for reopening our churches appear to be inconvenient. Why is Valentine’s Day So Important?
Right from the beginning of the Bible, God emphasized: “It is not good for man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18). Without companionship, no matter how much money you make or how beautiful your house or how perfect your job, you can’t be completely happy. God knows that. He designed you that way. Today, whether it’s Valentine’s Day or not, we want to encourage you to value the connections you already have with your friends and family and also to seek to make new connections with those who are locked behind doors of loneliness because it is not good for any of us to be alone. Inter-American Pastoral Families Encouraged to Press On Amid Challenges
One Little Island, One Big Problem
Danawan is one of the smallest of the 7,000 islands in the archipelago that comprises the Philippines. We weren’t aware of its existence until about three years ago, when our radio station in Mindoro began receiving phone calls from the island every day! They were coming from a community of seven families that call this island’s shoreline home—and they were all listening to Adventist World Radio! The truths were new to them, and they had many questions. We immediately sent a Bible instructor to the island to hold a two-week evangelistic series. It was a wonderful time of fellowship as together the whole village learned the amazing Bible truths about Jesus and His soon return. But there was a pressing problem on the island. Watch the video to find out what happened next, and how we were able to help these precious people. By God’s grace, today this island village is transformed—in more ways than one! —Duane McKey, President Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWJLFQIEH5Y
