What Really Makes Someone a Hero? – with Dr. Barry Black
What makes someone a hero? Who are some of the heroes of the Bible and how can we learn from them? The Bible can bring us strength and if we ask, God will bring us wisdom. How can we make sure we receive this strength and wisdom? Find out in this newest episode of ANN In-Depth! This week we are joined by Chaplain Barry C. Black. Chaplain Barry Black is the 62nd Chaplain of the United States Senate. He began serving as Senate chaplain in 2003 and is the first African American and first Seventh-day Adventist to hold the office. In addition to opening the Senate each day in prayer, Chaplain Black’s duties include counseling and spiritual care for the senators, their families, and their staffs, a combined constituency of six thousand people. Chaplain Black’s days are filled with meeting senators about spiritual and moral issues, assisting senators’ staffs with research on theological and biblical questions, teaching Senate Bible study groups, encouraging such groups as the weekly Senate Prayer Breakfast, and facilitating discussion and reflection small groups among senators and staff. Prayer is the Breath of the Soul
In this week’s message, we want you to see the ruins of the Holy Cross Mission on Manitoulin Island, which was established in 1844. It is a church in the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Reserve, north-eastern Manitoulin island – a place of much prayer. We hope this short message will encourage you to send us your personal prayer requests and to keep your connection with God alive and well. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrIYcOQLqQw
