The mind-numbing speed with which the wildfire they are calling Camp Fire ravaged Paradise, California, is almost incomprehensible. At one point, observers reported, the inferno was torching the equivalent of one football field of ground every second for 90 minutes! That’s 10,000 acres consumed in an hour and a half. If the fire’s velocity were in a straight line, it would be traveling across the ground at 300 feet/second—or 204 miles per hour. It is no wonder the flames were almost unbeatable. Read more…

It took some level of trust from the church at Antioch to send representatives to Jerusalem in order to seek the best solution to their conflict. However, after hours of discussion between the apostles and elders, James, the brother of Jesus, who appears to be the leader of the assembly, made a judgment about what should be done ( Acts 15:13-20 ). Clearly the council decided that Gentiles do not need to become Jewish converts, obeying all aspects of the ceremonial laws, including circumcision, in order to become Christians. Read Amos 9:11-12 and Jeremiah 12:14-16 . What predictions did these Old Testament prophets make regarding Israel’s neighboring nations?

Molly Henry, a year 8 student at Central Coast Adventist School (CCAS), has been invited to the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in Brisbane on November 10 where she will receive the award from Australia Zoo and the Steve Irwin Foundation for her conservation projects and efforts. The team at Australia Zoo told Molly’s mum Melinda that Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin, who will present the award, personally picked Molly, as she has been a stand out individual among the Wildlife Warrior group.

Young finalists representing Inter-America’s 24 major church territories will compete one last time during the last bible competition of the year on Dec. 1, 2018. Every year on October 14, Tiraspol, Moldova residents take to the streets, celebrating their city’s birthday. City authorities plan special events for citizens to enjoy during the holiday, and Tiraspol Adventists typically host a NEWSTART health exhibition as their contribution to the celebration.
