ADRA Provides Aid for Flood Victims in Mozambique; and other world news
Proverbs 3:27 says: "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is in your power to act." Here is the news of hope and healing from the Seventh-day Adventist Church community: In Mozambique, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) continues to help affected families. Cyclone Eloise devastated the region when it made landfall on January 23. It destroyed thousands of homes and agricultural produce due to heavy rains and floods. In response, ADRA deployed relief aid teams in different districts. ADRA's Lean Season Assistance Project in partnership with the World Food Program provides farmers with critical food assistance. According to David Masinde, country director of ADRA Mozambique, they coordinate with the local Seventh-day Adventist churches and other partners to participate in a rapid needs assessment in the area. In the Leeward Islands of the West Indies, the Adventist philosophy of education and students' holistic development are highlighted. The Seventh-day Adventist school in St. Eustatius had incorporated agriculture to its curriculum, and when the school shifted to online-learning due to the pandemic, students were given seeds to plant at home and asked to document their observations daily. The curriculum focuses on tools and their proper use, soil preparation, seeds planting, irrigation, plant care, and recognizing when fruits are ready to harvest. It aims to teach a greater appreciation for agriculture, encouraging the students to grow their own nutritious foods. Meanwhile, in the Western Australian Conference, Adventist young people joined the Youth and Student Literature Evangelism program in January. The young evangelists distributed more than 1,700 books; 1,000 of which were copies of Steps to Christ. The program's primary purpose is to engage young people in discipleship and sharing their faith. Watch these stories together with other uplifting feature stories here at ANN (adventist.news). Will You Go and Reach Out to Those Who are Lost? Encouragement from Pastor Ted Wilson
Will you reach out to those who are lost? Pastor Ted Wilson shares encouraging words for how to reach the world. While we have the wonderful hope of soon seeing Jesus face to face, we must remember there are so many others in the world today who do not yet have this hope—people who are frightened by what they see happening around them, people who are wondering what the future holds but do not know where to find trustworthy answers. Others may have known the truth at one time but have since left the faith. In Luke 15, we read the well-known trio of parables dealing with the lost—the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son. In the case of the lost sheep, the sheep knows it is lost, but doesn’t know how to find its way home. Of course, the coin doesn’t know it is lost, but it is still of great value and there is rejoicing when it is found. And the lost son is the most poignant story of all—a loved son who wanders far away but is drawn back home by his father’s love. God has given you and me the amazing privilege at this very time of reaching lost souls for Him, and He does not ask us to do this alone! In the marvelous book, Christian Service, we read, “Heavenly angels have long been waiting for human agents—the members of the church—to cooperate with them in the great work to be done. They are waiting for you.” (p. 89). What an amazing opportunity! Christ has commissioned His mighty angels to work with us in reaching souls for Him! To help bring focus to this important work, the world church has designated this coming Sabbath, February 6, as “Reach the World: Personal Outreach Day.” Organized by the Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Department of the General Conference, this day reminds us of the amazing impact we can have as individuals, through the power of God’s Holy Spirit, in reaching others for Him. Many helpful materials have been prepared for this special day, and you can visit this website to download these free materials [https://www.sabbathschoolpersonalministries.org/special-sabbaths]. Take a moment to consider a friend, a loved one, a neighbor, a co-worker, an online acquaintance—someone within your sphere of influence who God is calling you to reach for Him. He is calling you to reach out and minister to souls today. May God bless you as you say, “Yes, Lord, I hear your call, and in your strength, I Will Go today!” Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZXU5U4IcLg
