Serving the homeless, sick, and food insecure in the face of a pandemic

April 2, 2020 By admin

Social distancing. It’s a term that has become ubiquitous in light of the coronavirus disease pandemic. According to the Johns Hopkins Medical Center, “Social distancing is deliberately increasing the physical space between people to avoid spreading illness. Staying at least six feet away from other people lessens your chances of catching COVID-19.” Unprecedented, widespread measures have been enacted to decrease gatherings and increase physical space between individuals in public spaces.

Baptism in Croatia plea despite coronavirus lockdown

April 2, 2020 By admin

This was no ordinary baptism but, in the small village of Utolica, Croatia, a little more than 60 miles (100km) south of Zagreb and near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, it became a small but significant event.
Marijan Plačković, a native to the region, had begun studying God’s Word before the coronavirus crisis hit. On the basis of his new knowledge and experience with God, he made a decision to stand with Christ and publicly express it through baptism. He regularly attended the local…Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/ann-en/~3/BdTMnCo7Itg/

Faith FM providing hope and support in troubled times

April 2, 2020 By admin

While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause incredible pain and hardship around the world, it’s also giving the Seventh-day Adventist Church an unprecedented opportunity to share God’s peace and hope, and to demonstrate Christianity in action.
Adventist-owned radio network Faith FM has implemented a number of spiritual and practical initiatives to support communities around Australia.
“Amidst the isolation, people in our communities may find themselves in need of practical support, and we…Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/ann-en/~3/IgApDUrODnE/

Pagan Leader Converts His Entire Village | AWR360°

April 2, 2020 By admin

It was almost three years ago when we first received news that a village high in the mountains of Mindoro, Philippines, had been listening to Adventist World Radio, and they all wanted to be baptized. We were amazed. They had no Adventist contact except through the radio! But it was just the beginning. One by one, village after village began contacting our radio station wanting to join the Adventist Church. Today, more than 150 villages are Seventh-day Adventist, where three years ago there were none! Chief Perfecto was one of our first contacts. He set out to prove his village wrong when he heard on the radio the truth about the Sabbath. Friend, it is no longer business as usual. Jesus is coming soon! Amid the news that makes hearts “faint from fear and anxiety for the things that are coming on the earth,” we have the promise of the Holy Spirit—the refreshing latter rain that even now is being felt around the world. May it transform our hearts so that the world can be lighted with the knowledge of truth and Jesus can come to take us home! Yours in the Blessed Hope,

A Special Message From Pastor Ted Wilson on the #Coronavirus Crisis

April 2, 2020 By admin

Greetings, brothers and sisters around the World, our wonderful church family, worldwide family. God is in control of all of our aspects as we place ourselves in His hands. Now, during this Coronavirus pandemic, I want you to be encouraged in the Lord. I want you to feel His presence in all that is happening. Know that the difficulties that are being faced by so many people are to be in many ways brought to a better understanding if you place yourself in God's hands under his wings. Thousands have been, contracting this terrible Coronavirus. Millions of lives have been disrupted. Life is changing before our very eyes. Things that we never even thought could happen, are happening now. I want to tell you, brothers and sisters, God will see us through. Do not be afraid. Do not fear for what lies ahead for God will stand by you. He asks you to stand tall through His power. He asks you to connect through Bible study and through prayer and then to share with others. During the 100 days of prayer, I want to ask all of you to earnestly pray for the latter rain. Pray for the Holy Spirit. Pray that God will stop this virus as Moses and Aaron appealed and interceded on behalf of the people of Israel during a very difficult illness there. Pastors, I want to urge you to pray earnestly, and to understand that you along with members can intercede with God. God will hear our prayers. I want to share with you from Psalm 56:3: “Whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You.” Verse 11 “In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Trust. Trust in God. Now let's go to Psalm 57:1. It's so appropriate for the Coronavirus, Covid-19 situation in which we are in right now. Listen to these beautiful words just for you. “Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!” The Psalmist repeats that “For my soul trusts in You; and in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by.” What a beautiful verse for us in this situation that we can hide under the wings of God, that this will pass. This is not the final end, this particular crisis, but it is a great precursor to what is going to happen in the near future. I believe that Jesus is coming very soon and he wants this to be a wake-up call. Imagine what you can do in the near future and even now using your telephone, using social media, using even waving at people, even a piece of literature, making sure that it's not contaminated, but somehow getting it too, to a person in an appropriate public health way. God will use you to create innovative ways to reach out in Total Member involvement. Even in this situation, we are under his wings. A little story is told about a fire that took place on a farm raged across that farm and finally, the farmer was able to get out and look at his animals and his farm. He came to a very sad situation where there was a hen. That had died in the fire. The feathers were all burnt and there was this lifeless body. He gently took his foot and moved that hen's body and out from that body, that dead body came, these little baby chicks who were alive, they had been saved by the mother under her body and her wings. Fortunately, our God will never die. His wings are eternal, and we are under those beautiful wings. Let me share with you a beautiful thought from “Christian Service”, a beautiful book. Page 52: “The days in which we live are solemn and important. The Spirit of God is gradually but surely being withdrawn from the earth. Plagues and judgments are already falling upon the despisers of the grace of God. … Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones”. I think you and I can identify with that. And then on page 89 an appeal to each of us: “Heavenly angels have long been waiting for human agents. The members of the church,” that's you and me, “to cooperate with them in the great work to be done. They are waiting for you.” God bless each one of you as you stand firm for God and cooperate with heavenly angels to take this gospel to the world. Let's pray together:
Father in Heaven, we ask that you bless each church member around the world. As they put their hands to the plow, as they put their lives under your wings. Lord, give us guidance, protection, and give us the power of the Holy Spirit to share with others the precious news of the three angels' messages, and that Jesus is coming soon. In Christ's name, we ask it. Amen. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxUm2hL9azs

All May Win

April 2, 2020 By admin

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 1 Corinthians 9:24.

Heaven’s resources are limitless, and they are all at our command. Why then, I ask, is the progress of the Lord’s work in our world so slow? Why is Christ so sadly misrepresented? Why are not the Lord’s followers increasing in knowledge and purity, holiness and power?

Are there not presented before Christ’s followers the highest virtues to be cultivated, the greatest honors to be gained? God calls upon them to enter upon a race in which everyone may win. He calls upon them to enlist in a warfare in which everyone may be a conqueror. A robe of righteousness and a crown of everlasting life—this is the reward held out before the overcomer….

When the Christian takes his baptismal vow, divine help is pledged to him. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit stand ready to work in his behalf. God places at his command the resources of heaven, that he may be an overcomer. His own power is small, but God is omnipotent, and God is his helper. Daily he is to make known his wants at the throne of grace. By faith and trust, by availing himself of the resources provided, he will come off more than conqueror. Why, then, should not those who are fighting against the powers of darkness, move forward with faith and courage? God and Christ and the Holy Spirit are on their side….

When we remember that no one knows when his probation may close, how dare we live unprepared—unready to meet our Lord? How dare we remain sinful and defiled? Why are we not afraid? Why are we not troubled? Why do we not realize our peril? … The Lord would work mightily for His people if they would put off the works of darkness and be clothed with His righteousness….

God calls upon those who claim to have a knowledge of the truth to show by unquestioning obedience that they are faithful soldiers of the cross. Let not those who stand under the bloodstained banner of Prince Emmanuel do anything that will dishonor the cause for which they are fighting. Christ expects His soldiers to be brave and loyal and true.

The work that Christ did on this earth His followers are to do. With the power and efficiency brought by the Holy Spirit they are to carry forward His plan for the restoration of the divine image in humanity. The Lord will do great things for them when they work under the Holy Spirit’s guidance. But they must place their entire dependence on God.—Manuscript 13, June 8, 1902, “God’s People to Be Light Bearers.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Friends,
In the early 90’s, we went on vacation in the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. It was a beautiful place. At one of the places we visited along the Pacific Ocean, we had to climb over huge logs and tree stumps that had washed up onto the shore in order to get to the water’s edge. Their bark was gone and they were bleached white by the sun. Those trees (escapees from the logging industry) that had once grown so tall and green, were now nothing but huge pieces of driftwood.
Death is common on this sinful planet. Death seems almost natural, just a part of life, but there is no such thing as a natural death. Our Loving Creator never intended for there to be any death. He, Who formed the earth to be inhabited by holy, happy beings, tells us, “For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.” Isa 45:18 Our Loving Creator provided everything that was needed for all things to live forever in harmony, health and happiness.
Sad to say, man sinned and death for all things entered the world. (Gen 3) The beautiful life that God had planned for us was spoiled. Paul tells us, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” Rom 5:12
Yet, He, Who made the Universe and all that is in it, did not leave us to bear the consequences of sin. He provided a way of escape! Jesus, our Saviour, voluntarily died that second death for us, so that we do not have to! “For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.” 1 Cor 15:21-23 What love! What wondrous love He has for each of us!
Because of Jesus, the misery of this old world is only temporary. He will make an utter end of sin. Sin shall not rise up the second time. All the universe will be in harmony once more. (Nahum 1:9; Rev 20-22) Jesus is coming soon! All signs prophesied so long ago are rapidly fulfilling. At that time He will gather together both the righteous living and those who died with faith in Him. “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” 1 Thes 4:16,17 “Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” 1 Cor 15:51-55 What a glorious reunion that will be!
May we all be ready in that great day. May we soon see our Loving Saviour coming in the clouds to rescue us from the sin and death of this old planet. May we soon look up and say, “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” Isa. 25:9
