The specificity of the instructions in Leviticus is a reminder that God loves order, organization, structure, and precision. God is also a lover of beauty and artistry! Those who are gifted in the arts must surely find encouragement in these chapters. V.1 states that God Himself gave artistic talent to Bezalel and Aholiab. Using their gifts in building the tabernacle brought honor to the God whom they served. The people gave to the building project with such joyous generosity that ultimately the command came, "Bring no more!" Not often today do we hear of fund-raising for a specific mission project that brings in so many resources that the leader says, Enough! Contribute no more! The energy, creativity, tenacity, and passion of ancient Israeal to collectively build a worship edifice that would honor God remains an ideal for God's people today. Whether we serve the Lord as a janitor or an architect, let us also worship God with our talents, doing all "with excellence, as to the Lord." Cindy Tutsch
