Despite the local challenges, a new group of believers has been started on an Adventist school campus. Most people are young professionals working in the medical field and tech companies. A Deaf Ministry in Jamaica, initiated by a woman named McLeish, expands to several churches across the country and contributes to the formation of a new church for the deaf with over 80 members in Portmore. The Sabbath School units create a social music project in Brazil. The participants in the "Hands that Play" project receive choir lessons, musical theory instruction, and hands-on practice with instruments such as the flute and violin. Founded in 1899 as a missionary school, Friedensau Adventist University in Germany celebrates its 125th anniversary.
