First in the news… as we reported last week, Seventh-day Adventist Church leaders of the General Conference Administrative Committee or G-C ADCOM voted September 15 to accept as an official statement: One Humanity: A Human Relations Statement Addressing Racism, Casteism, Tribalism, and Ethnocentrism. The statement comes after recent events led the Public Affairs and Religious Liberty, or PARL, World Affairs Committee on July 1 to vote to explore producing a new church statement on global issues involving racism. Pr Ted Wilson: How Does Sabbath School Help Us Come Closer to God?
In this video, Pastor Ted Wilson shares how much he treasures the #Sabbath. One of Pastor Wilson’s favorite things about the Sabbath is going to Sabbath School. Whether in person, or online, #SabbathSchool offers each of us the opportunity to come closer to #God through the study of His Word, through learning more about #mission, and, as circumstances permit, #fellowshipping together. The Sabbath School lesson study should be an interactive time, led by the teacher, yet offering many opportunities for class members to share together, offering insights from their own #Bible study during the week, and diving into the biblical concepts presented in the Sabbath School lesson. You can make your Sabbath School come alive! Visit alive.adventist.org for videos and many more free resources! #Mission also plays a vital role in Sabbath School—both locally and globally. The Sabbath School provides a place where members can share experiences they are having in reaching out and ministering to others in their community, and inspiring others to do the same. It also provides time to see what is happening in mission around the world. One of the best ways to do this is by watching the short Mission Spotlight programs. These outstanding videos, as well as Mission magazines filled with more great stories, are available for free download at adventistmission.org. Sabbath School, of course, is not just for adults! It is a wonderful place for children and young people to learn more about #Jesus, His Word, His Church, His mission, and to cultivate strong #Christian friendships and a love for service. Praise the Lord for the thousands of dedicated Sabbath School teachers around the world who take the time each week to carefully guide and nurture their young students. You will never know until eternity the impact that you are making in the lives of these precious young people. Did you know that Sabbath School can be one of the most effective soul-winning opportunities that we have? You are invited to participate in a special way this coming Sabbath, which has been designated “Sabbath School Guest Day” by the Seventh-day Adventist world church. Why not invite a friend, or a family member, to join you in coming to Sabbath School this week? And even if your church is not able to meet in person yet, there are many Sabbath Schools now available online. Ask your local pastor for more information about how to connect with a virtual Sabbath School online. May the Lord bless you as you take the opportunity to be a part of Sabbath School! Adventist Encyclopedia: Understanding The Role and Importance of an Archivist
An encyclopedia would be incomplete without the input of an archivist. In this podcast episode, Dr. David Trim and Dr. Dragoslava Santrac interviewed Ashlee Chism, the Research Center Manager for ASTR. The Office of Archives, Statistics, and Research is a big partner of the latest Adventist online encyclopedia. Official Seventh-day Adventist church archives
Located at the General Conference headquarters, ASTR serves as the records center of the world church. The archivists in the place work a lot like a librarian and historian. They make the articles available online for researchers, authors, and editors. Also, they assure that digitized files in the encyclopedia follow global and national laws, like the HIPAA laws in the United States. Stories out from the vault
As an archivist, Ashlee writes articles for ESDA. She has written about her alma mater, Indiana Academy, the oldest boarding school in the USA. She also shares stories of missionaries and fascinating history. The beginning of the International Tract and Missionary Society Ashlee relates her second article which is about Sarah Jennie Thayer. This missionary loved writing and editing that she became the first editor of the Atlantic Union Gleaner. The stories from her diaries guided literature evangelists in bringing good tidings to every doorstep. Read more about Jennie Thayer here:

Age, experience, and educational attainment do not matter. Ashlee, who has no doctorate degree, gives this piece of advice to aspiring writers: "The passion for the subject always gives a writer the arm to stick with it. It requires a lot of patience for waiting for a little clue to answer a big question while writing. Note that, not all the time you can find available resources for your articles. You may not find it right away, but if you love your job usually you will stick with it and keep finding. By having the willingness to be diligent, you can always gain knowledge and it is one of the most important in becoming a writer."
