COVID-19 is a public health crisis. As many of you already know it has also been an emotional and spiritual challenge for countless individuals as well as marriage and family relationships. This situation has provoked anxiety, stress, tension, collective sadness, grief and even spiritual uncertainty. In addition to the loss of loved ones, there have been many other losses—employment, a sense of security and celebrations (graduations, birthdays, weddings, baby dedications and many other festivities that have been a part of our daily lives). The truth is, we’ve lost normalcy, what our lives used to look like before COVID-19. To be sure, marriage and family relationships have been hijacked by the evil one. Consequently, it is time to take these concerns to the Lord in prayer and remember: “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” 1 John 5:14 It is our desire and hope that this day—June 6, 2020—will be a marker, a line in the sand if you will, when we believe and claim God’s promises for our marriage and family relationships. It is time to trust God to do the impossible by enabling us to have His mind (Philippians 2:5) so we can be patient and kind (1 Corinthians 13:4) with each other as He is with us and exhibit the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) each day in our marriage and family relationships. Sabbath School Lesson: From Dirty to Clean
In 548/547 b.c., God gives #Daniel another dream. We can read about that dream in Daniel 8. This dream gives us more information about God’s work as Judge in Daniel 7. You will remember that the dreams in Daniel 2 and Daniel 7 start with #Babylon. But the dream in Daniel 8 leaves out Babylon and starts with Media-Persia. At this time (548/547 b.c.), Babylon already was losing power. The Persians were ready to replace Babylon as the most powerful kingdom on earth. We will see that the dream in Daniel 8 gives us the same information as Daniel 7. Yes, the word pictures change in Daniel 8. That is because Daniel 8 shows us that God will clean the temple in heaven from sin. So, Daniel 8 talks about what happens in God’s temple in heaven during the end times. But Daniel 7 shows us heaven’s courtroom. It also shows the Son of Man getting the kingdom. Daniel 8 shows that God will make the temple in heaven clean. So, we see that God’s work of cleaning heaven’s temple in Daniel 8 is connected to His work as Judge in Daniel 7. Sabbath School Lesson: Faith, the Bible and History
Though it’s always nice to have archaeological evidence that supports our #faith, why must we learn not to make our faith depend upon these things, as helpful as they might at times be? The #Bible shows us #history. First, the Bible shows us the beginning of human life when #God made the sky and the earth. Then the Bible shows us the history of God’s people from the beginning to the end of time. Finally, the Bible shows us that God will make the earth new again at His Second Coming. The Bible’s record of history makes the Bible different from the holy books of other religions. The Bible shows us a God who is personal. The Bible does not try to prove that God is real. It just teaches that He lives. He acts in human history. In the beginning, God speaks. His words make all the life there is on earth (Genesis 1:1–31). God commands Abram to leave Ur, the land of the Chaldees. God brings His people out of slavery in Egypt. God writes the Ten Commandments on stone with His own finger (Exodus 31:18). God sends prophets, or special messengers, to His people. God gives His law to Israel and asks them to share His saving plan with other people. God sends His Son #Jesus to the earth and changes history forever. This week, we will look at some important happenings in Bible history. We also will look at some of the proof that shows us that Bible history is true.
