Susan – “For Such a Time as This”
#BCStewardshipStories Susan Featherby, Lakeview Christian School (LCS) Board Chair shares an incredible miracle story about our school in the southern part of Vancouver Island. She is an eyewitness and a visionary that saw the way God intervened by using Adventist and non-Adventist parents of the students of our school to plead for the school to remain open and serve as a haven for their children. The 2016-2017 school year was nearly 2/3 complete when a vote was taken to close the school in the following school year. Then, individual parents “knocked at the doors of the constituent church pastors and school administration” to request them to not let the school die. The projection was that the school would experience a $70,000 deficit at end of the school year and enrolment would be minimal for the following year. Well… not really. Prayers, visitations, hard work and a renewed vision were put in place. When the school year ended, the $70,000 deficit became a $2,000 surplus. The school remained open and 17 students were enrolled. On the following year 40+ students attended the school; then nearly 60 and this year 92 students are happily enrolled at the school. With this renewed vison and much prayer and dedication, the indicators point that over 100 students will be attending LCS next year. The secret? Much prayer, dependence on God, vision, hard work, and a ministry of friendship in the local community! About 70% of the students come from non-Adventist homes – what a mission field. Those parents love to send their children to LCS and are the first to support it in every aspect. At the end of last year, with the support of the BC Board of Directors, a new property was acquired to provide space for an expansion of LCS, aiming to start offering High School for its students – God is wonderful. This video will keep all of those who watch it glued to their seats. The BC Conference Administration, its Office of Education and the LCS Constituency are in one mind and one purpose to support the growth of LCS. Our schools are the best place for our children, as great supporters of our homes and churches to inspire our children to find the joy and wisdom that only Jesus can provide. THANK YOU, BC Conference members for your desire and special support given to our schools. Many of our students will be in heaven because of such unified vision, by God’s grace!
