They’re Providing Bags of Love to Children in Need
A little country church in the town of Ryley, Alberta is the epicenter of this great volunteer work of providing handmade Bags of Love to meet the needs of displaced children. To support this labour of love, a community of quilters donate their creative, colorful work – some of the most beautiful quilts you will ever see – to go into the bags. The thought and care that goes into each quilt is truly heartwarming, and social workers and foster parents testify to the calming and comforting effects the bags have on children who have experienced the worst trauma of their lives. Having your very own quilt to cling to in those moments of overwhelming distress provides a great deal of comfort for these children. Today on IIWC, you will meet Jewel Lien and some of her team of volunteers who have two motives that keep them going: a deep love for children and an abiding trust in the LORD, Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that they would dare to ask or think, according to the power that works within all those who put their faith in Him. Psalm 29 – “How to Handle Your Storm” with Pastor Shawn Ellis
Psalm 29 has been called, “The Song of the Seven Thunders”
Thunders boom while water and wind cause great destruction. Think of a Tsunami or a tidal wave hitting an island with tremendous force. Everything is swept away in the flood. At the end of the psalm 29 the psalmist proclaims: 10 The LORD sits enthroned over (KJV – “upon”) the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever.
So, the waters destroy that which stands in their way or tries to resist them, but if you ride the wave, then you are at peace. You are in sync “with” the power, not resisting or in the away, blocking the wave.
And where does the power come to ride the wave?
11 The LORD gives strength to His people; the LORD blesses His people with peace.
YHWH gives us what we need to make it, to stay “with” Him.
What is your storm? Is it external or internal? Can you name it? Psalm 29 encourages you to “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness.”
Can you proclaim The LORD’s Name above your storm? Can you see that His name is greater and more powerful than the name of your storm? Can you see how The Voice of the LORD can speak over your storm and give you strength and peace?
Or is there more than one storm in your life right now? Or is it an ongoing storm? Please, let us know how we can pray for you? Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Vh6vZyKqrA
