7: Mission to My Neighbor – Teaching Plan
Key Thought : Jesus emphasizes the importance of action, of putting the gospel into practice. That is, we must be the hands and feet of the body of Christ..
November 18, 2023
A. Have a volunteer read Luke 10:25.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What did this lawyer ask and why did he ask it?
- Personal Application: How can we be mindful of taking advantage of whatever openings come our way to witness, regardless of circumstances? Share your thoughts..
- Case Study: One of your relatives states, “Why did Jesus refer to the Bible and ask the lawyer what the Bible said to him about how to inherit eternal life? Why didn’t Jesus just tell him? What does this tell us about how we shoul approach people?” How would you respond to your relative?

B. Have a volunteer read Matthew 26:8, Acts 17:11, I Cor 15:3..
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- How do these verses help us understand Jesus’ response to the lawyer in Luke Chapter 10?
- Personal Application: Jesus always pointed us to the written word. What should this tell us about the importance of the Bible, and reject any reasoning that lessens our trust in the Bible? Share your thoughts
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “I believe that we don’t have all the Bible, and since it was under Church control for so many years, they could have manipulated the Bible so some parts of it might be untrustworthy and wrong.” How would you respond to your friend?
C. Have a volunteer read Luke 10:27,28.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- What was the lawyer’s answer to his own question?
- Personal Application: How much do you care for the welfare of others? How can we learn to care more for others? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states: “So Jesus affirmed that all we have to do is love God and love our fellow man and we are saved. So He doesn’t say we have to keep the commandments in order to be saved. We just need to love God and our neighbor.” How would you respond to your relative?
D. Have a volunteer read Luke 10:30-37.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- How would you summarize the meaning in this story by Jesus?
- Personal Application: List three names of people you know. Identify their needs and consider how you can minister personally to those needs. Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
(Truth that is not lived, that is not imparted, loses its life-giving power, its healing virtue. Its blessings can be retained only as it is shared.”Ministry of Healing, p. 148).

7: Mission to My Neighbor – Singing with Inspiration
“God’s Mission – My Mission” consistently points us to our Gracious God and how He wishes us to portray what He has done for us. In response we will reach out to others:
Hymn 573 – I’ll Go Where You Want Me To Go, Dear Lord, hence our theme hymn. This is in response to
So Send I You – Hymn 573.

We learn a lot about giving this week. To help us along in this learning process, it is wise to ask
Give Me The Bible – Hymn 272 to learn all the correct answers for our daily living and sharing. It is our wonderful
God, Whose Giving Knows No Ending – Hymn 636 (Monday) Who is to be copied on the poor old earth.
“Loving Others as We Love Ourselves” (Wednesday) may be copied from
O Love Of God Most Full – Hymn 77.
So, dear people, be encouraged to go forward so that we and all our friends and neighbors will be rejoicing
When We All Get To Heaven – Hymn 633.
To learn unknown hymns, you will find the accompaniment music for each one at: https://sdahymnals.com/Hymnal/
Another great resource is for when there is a hymn you wish to sing but can’t find it in your hymnal. Go to https://www.sdahymnal.org/Search and in the search bar type a special word in that is in the hymn. I am sure you will be amazed at the help you will be given.
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
