8: Seeing the Invisible – Teaching Plan
Key Thought: The truth about our Father’s goodness, the power of His name, the power of the resurrection, and the compassion of God will shape and enable us to stand strong in adversity.
August 20, 2022
1. Have a volunteer read John 14:14.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What does Jesus mean when He asks us to pray like this?
- Personal Application: What things in your life could be standing in the way of having these promises fulfilled in you? Share your thoughts..
- Case Study: One of your relatives states, “I have prayed for many things over the years expecting the Lord to hear and answer. But I never get the things I asked for. Does it matter what I ask for, or why I ask, or when I ask? He says if you ask anything in His name He will do it.” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Ephesians 1:18-23.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- What does this text teach us about the power of the resurrection?
- Personal Application: What choices can you make in areas of your life to allow this power to work more freely? Share your thoughts
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “What power is God talking about here? How is His body, the church, the fullness of Him? I don’t understand this saying..” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read I Peter 5:7.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What is the basic message here for us?
- Personal Application: What things cause you to worry? Do you believe God can take care of it? Is there anything that we should worry about? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states: “How can I cast all my cares on someone I’ve never seen? If He cares for me so much, I wouldn’t have all the financial and physical problems I have. How am I supposed to care for someone I don’t know?” How would you respond to your relative
4. Have a volunteer read Isaiah 40:27-31.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- In what way does Isaiah describe God? Can we hide anything from Him?
- Personal Application: How would you respond to those who feel God has left them? Share your thoughts?
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
(Truth that is not lived, that is not imparted, loses its life-giving power, its healing virtue. Its blessings can be retained only as it is shared.”Ministry of Healing, p. 148).
