This week on ANN. On Monday, May 24, president of the Seventh-day Adventist World Church, Ted N.C. Wilson and several selected delegates from the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists met with the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments for the Republic of Sudan, Naserldeen Mofarih. Mofarih was joined by Amira Agarib, deputy chief of Mission at the Embassy for the Republic of Sudan, and Putrus Komi, advisor for Christian Affairs to the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments. In Mexico, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) recently distributed dozens of large water tanks, pumps, and hoses to 165 families who were severely affected by forest fires in the La Sierra Madre Oriental Mountains in March. The initiative was part of a project that sought to assist families who lost water service in their homes in the Nuevo Leon and Coahuila states. Every conference in Australia and New Zealand united to distribute Hope for Troubled Times, a sharing book written by Adventist evangelist Mark Finley. Conferences and local churches had the option of distributing the book at any time during May or specifically handing it out on May 15, which was designated as Impact Day. In Amazonas, Brazil, dozens of people were involved in recording the first Christian production shot. “I No Longer Live” takes place amid the COVID-19 pandemic and portrays the life of 19-year-old student Esthefany da Silva Maiah, her daily life, and her participation in the Pathfinder Club. After Esthefany discovered that she had lupus, her life was marked by many changes and the desire to make a difference in the lives of the people she lived with. Living with the complications of the disease, Esthefany started writing her reflections and projects in a journal that her father gave her. From that diary, the movie was born. Seventh-day Adventists across ten islands in the North Caribbean region recently joined forces to provide urgent assistance to the hundreds of people displaced by the eruptions of the La Soufriere volcano in St. Vincent and the Grenadine. The volcano sent lava streaming down the mountain and engulfed the southeast Caribbean’s atmosphere with toxic ash last month. As a result, more than 20000 people were displaced and unable to return to their homes on April 9, 2021. It is Written has announced a brand-new children’s evangelism resource: Buried Treasure. Buried Treasure is produced by My Place With Jesus, It Is Written’s ministry for children. The comprehensive, 21-day program is specially designed to minister to children during an evangelistic series, Vacation Bible School, Sabbath School, or similar event. Each resource is designed to teach children the same Bible truths shared with adults in an evangelistic series. Find out more at It Is Written. In Brazil, teachers at Colégio Adventista de Vitória in Espírito Santo received emotional support as part of ‘The Pedagogical Parads,’ a dedicated room within the school that offers educational guidance and emotional support for the staff. In addition, the center included a living room with ambient lighting and aromatherapy to promote relaxation. Looking for more current events and inspiring stories within the Adventist community?
