Born to a powerful Muslim family, he was stoned repeatedly for his faith and eventually returned to Nazareth as an Adventist pastor. The threats and curses aimed at Wisam became his enemies’ own death warrants, and Wisam’s influence has grown far and wide. Ana’s heart was heavy. Her husband had left her just after the birth of their daughter, and she felt overwhelmed by the burdens of life to the point of despair. Seeing no way out and feeling abandoned and alone, depression set in, followed by the unthinkable: thoughts of suicide. But God had not forgotten Ana. He is “pitiful and of tender mercy” (James 5:11), and near to all who are hurting. In her darkest hour, God sent Ana a friend. Below is a short video report on the situation facing our Center for Digital Evangelism in the Philippines. It is located just 20 miles from the Taal volcano that erupted earlier this week. You have probably seen the devastation in the news reports as the eruptions continue, but thankfully, the air quality has improved in the area where the center is located, and our young people are being allowed to return to work. I wish I could tell you this is the only upheaval in the world, but we know that “the whole creation has been groaning” under the weight of sin.
