Monday: Crucibles of Satan

July 3, 2022 By admin

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8, NKJV).

Read the above verse. What’s the message there for us? Ask yourself, “How seriously do I take these words?” What things do you do in your life that show whether you take them seriously?

Man Behind the Cross Hiding from Fire

Have you ever watched a hungry lion? It’s awesome because you know it can catch and eat just about anything it wants. Peter says that Satan is prowling around in the same way. When we look around, we can see the consequences of his desire to kill. Death, suffering, and the twisting and perverting of morals and values are everywhere. We cannot escape seeing the work of Satan.

Read 1 Peter 5:8-11. How should Christians react to Satan’s prowling?
What does God promise to do for those who are suffering? 1 Peter 5:10.

Peter writes these words in the context of responding to Satan’s attacks on Christian faith. But as we have mentioned, Satan is at work in many different ways. And although we must be aware of the reality and the power of our enemy, we must never be discouraged, for we must always remember that Jesus has beaten Satan, that Satan is a defeated foe, and that as long as we stay connected with Jesus, as long as we cling to Him in faith, we can never be defeated, either. Because of the cross, Christ’s victory is our victory.

Think about the other ways that Satan causes pain. How could reading 1 Peter 5:8-11 help us to deal with the anguish that we experience because of our fate in living in a sinful world in which Satan wreaks havoc?

2: The Crucibles That Come – Singing with Inspiration

July 3, 2022 By admin

Having scanned through the lesson quarterly, there are so many hymns from which to choose a theme. In effect, there is a commencing theme hymn that changes through the quarter to the finale theme hymn. To start with, we could use:
Hymn 552 – The Lord’s My Shepherd or
Hymn 545 – Savior, Like a Shepherd.

Somewhere in the middle of the quarter one could change the theme and add in
Hymn 159 – On a Hill Far Away which is where we complete our studies in Lesson 13.

 Sunday encourages us to request:
Hymn 315 – O For a Closer Walk With God,
Hymn 554 – O Let Me Walk With Thee,
Hymn 574 – O Master, Let Me Walk With Thee,
Hymn 624 – I Want Jesus to Walk With Me.

The outstanding statement at the end of Monday, “Christ’s victory is our victory” is found in
Hymn 608 – Faith is the Victory and
When We All Get to Heaven – Hymn 633 “We’ll sing and shout the victory!”.

Our refining (Wednesday) comes in many ways:
Hymn 263 – Fire of God Thou Sacred Flame (verse 1) and
Hymn 509 – How Firm a Foundation (verse 4).

To learn unknown hymns, you will find the accompaniment music for each one at: https://sdahymnals.com/Hymnal/

Another great resource is for when there is a hymn you wish to sing but can’t find it in your hymnal. Go to https://www.sdahymnal.org and in the search bar type a special word in that is in the hymn. I am sure you will be amazed at the help you will be given.

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Amen!(1)

2: The Crucibles That Come – Teaching Plan

July 2, 2022 By admin

Key Thought: God brings people into difficult positions and circumstances that they may discover the defects in their character so they can be corrected and fit for His service.
.July 9, 2022

1. Have a volunteer read I Peter 4:12-19.

  1. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
  2. How are we to respond to troubles and difficulties in our lives? Are many of our problems caused by our own poor choices and actions?
  3. Personal Application: Why do we always face adversity and trials with an attitude that it is a strange thing to happen to us? Do we think God is always going to give us smooth sailing? Share your thoughts..
  4. Case Study: One of your relatives states, “Why do I have so many trials in my life? It seems like one disaster after another. I know I haven’t always done what God has wanted me to do, and I don’t go to church much, but why is everything so hard for me?” How would you respond to your relative?

2. Have a volunteer read I Peter 5:8.

  1. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
  2. How seriously do we take this message?
  3. Personal Application: When we are caught up in sin and the immorality of the world and can see no way God could forgive us; what promises does God give us to help encourage us and others? Share your thoughts
  4. Case Study: One of your friends states, “This world is so perverted now. Morality is deemed as judgmental, condemning, and biased as every level of sexual deviance is rampant. Murder, theft, hatred, and anger is rampant everywhere. There is no respect for elders, leaders, teachers, or parents. Where is God in all this?” How would you respond to your friend?

3. Have a volunteer read Romans 1:21-32.

  1. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
  2. What is Paul saying about the stages of sin and its consequences?
  3. Personal Application: How have you reaped the consequences of your own sins? What have you learned from this? Share your thoughts.
  4. Case Study: One of your relatives states: “How do I know whether some bad thing that is happening to me is from God, or from the devil, or from my own mistakes” How would you respond to your relative?

4. Have a volunteer read 2 Corinthians 12:7-10.

  1. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
  2. How does Paul deal with his thorn in the flesh?
  3. Personal Application: Did Paul’s weakness have any spiritual benefits for him? How can his response help you to deal with your thorns? Share your thoughts.
  4. Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.

(Truth that is not lived, that is not imparted, loses its life-giving power, its healing virtue. Its blessings can be retained only as it is shared.”Ministry of Healing, p. 148).

Amen!(0)
