The Big Sing was conceived in 2001, on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of BBC1’s Songs of Praise. The programme ethos remains the same: congregational and performance items, however on a bigger scale: a larger venue, orchestra, larger choirs, and overall bigger production.

Croydon SDA Gospel Choir on BBC Songs of Praise
The Croydon Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Gospel Choir will be featuring on a number of Songs of Praise programmes on BBC1 television. The choir, celebrating forty years of unbroken service, is no stranger to the programme. In conjunction with the Kingdom Choir, of Royal Wedding fame, the choir formed part of a ‘double-choir’ act, a concept of then Croydon-based television producer Roy Francis.
