Aunty, should I be lectured because I attended my daughter’s Saturday graduation?

September 15, 2025 By admin

15 September 2025  | Dear Aunt Sevvy, Even though I am not a Seventh-day Adventist, I attend church with my husband because I believe a family should worship together. I understand the importance of the Sabbath, but I’m not legalistic about it.  My daughter—my husband’s step daughter—was graduating this past spring and she marched on […] Source: https://atoday.org/aunty-should-i-be-lectured-because-i-attended-my-daughters-saturday-graduation/

12: Please, Show Me Your Glory — Singing with Inspiration

September 14, 2025 By admin

Exodus points us to a wonderful conclusion with the Israelites being bound for the Promised Land, hence our theme hymn for the quarter being
We Are Bound For The Promised Land – Hymn 620.

“We are daily in God’s university, where there is no graduation but a constant learning process” says Sabbath afternoon’s introduction to this week’s lesson studies. Here we are to ask
Saviour, Teach Me – Hymn 193.

The Tent of Meeting (Sunday) teaches
O Worship The Lord – Hymn 6 and then goes on to encourage us to say
I’ve Found A Friend – Hymn 186,
What A Friend – Hymn 499 and
Hymn 187 – Jesus, What A Friend For Sinners. We then learn that “Moses was a faithful servant of God” (Deut. 34:5, Josh 1:1), therefore, let us learn this and sing
O Brother, Be Faithful – Hymn 602.

Monday continues the growth of Moses’ friendship with God. “He drew closer and closer”:
Hymn 315 – O For A Closer Walk With God. “Moses desired to know God’s character more concretely” and just like Moses,
We Have Not Known Thee As We Ought – Hymn 291.

“Our hearts and minds can experience a change when we surrender to God and allow Him to be the Lord and King of our lives” is written for Thursday’s study time, so may
I Surrender All – Hymn 309. Then, “Christ, together with His law, can be engraved in our characters only when we fix our eyes on Jesus”:
Hymn 290 – Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.

Friday then shows that we will be able to “Let your light so shine before men”, and we can reflect this by showing
There Is Sunshine In My Soul Today – Hymn 470. “Only shining people can be agents of change.”

Please continue to search the scriptures this week to be blessed, and to bless others.

To learn unknown hymns, you will find the accompaniment music for each one at: https://sdahymnals.com/Hymnal/

Another great resource is for when there is a hymn you wish to sing but can’t find it in your hymnal. Go to https://www.sdahymnal.org/Search and in the search bar type a special word in that is in the hymn. I am sure you will be amazed at the help you will be given.

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

September 14, 2025 By admin

Key Thought: It was not God’s presence alone that changed Moses’ life. It was crucial that Moses be open to God’s love, grace, and compassion. Moses’ understanding of God’s goodness and transforming power made Moses face shine..

Monday: That I May Know You

September 14, 2025 By admin

Daily Lesson for Monday 15th of September 2025

Read Exodus 33:12-17. What did Moses ask the Lord to teach him? Why did he demand God’s presence to guide them?

Moses’ growth in the Lord was steady. He drew closer and closer to the Lord and sought to model himself after God’s image. One day when he was conversing with God in the tent of meeting,

Moses on Mt. Sinai

Moses suddenly realized that he did not know Him, and he uttered a specific prayer: “ ‘Show me now Your way, that I may know You’ ” (Exodus 33:13, NKJV). Moses was aware of his deep need to understand God on a new level. He discovered that the more he knew the Lord, the more he did not know Him. He recognized his need and wholeheartedly desired to know Him better. God willingly granted Moses’ wish.

By looking at the experiences of Moses so far, we can observe how Moses was drawn into a deeper, intimate relationship with the Lord and how he grew spiritually.

First, Moses climbed the mountain and “went up to God” (Exodus 19:3, NKJV). Then he went “to the top of the mountain” (Exodus 19:20, NKJV) and afterward approached the cloud, “the thick darkness” in which God resided (Exodus 20:21, NKJV).

On another occasion, “Moses entered the cloud” where God was, and he stayed with the Lord 40 days and 40 nights (Exodus 24:18, NIV). During these 40 days, God gave Moses two precious gifts: (1) the gift of the Decalogue written by God Himself on the two tablets, also chiseled by Him (Exodus 24:12), and (2) the instructions on how to build and furnish the tabernacle (see Exodus 25:1-40; Exodus 26:1-37; Exodus 27:1-21; Exodus 28:1-43; Exodus 29:1-46; Exodus 30:1-38; Exodus 31:1-18).

Then he spent another 40 days and nights with the Lord, interceding for sinners (Exodus 32:30-32, Deuteronomy 9:18).

Yet, even after all this, Moses desired to know God’s character more concretely, and God soon gave him special insights to understand who He is. This knowledge Moses desired was not a mere intellectual understanding of God but an experiential knowledge of His person.

No wonder centuries later Jesus would say: “ ‘And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent’ ” (John 17:3, NKJV). What better way for God to make Himself known to humans than by becoming a human Himself?

Do you know God, or do you just know about Him? What is the crucial difference between the two?
