Seen and Unseen Foes

November 15, 2025 By admin

Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. Daniel 12:10.

The church must and will fight against seen and unseen foes. Satan’s agencies in human form are on the ground. Men have confederated to oppose the Lord of hosts. These confederacies will continue until Christ shall leave His place of intercession before the mercy seat and shall put on the garments of vengeance. Satanic agencies are in every city, busily organizing into parties those opposed to the law of God. Professed saints and avowed unbelievers take their stand with these parties.45Testimonies for the Church 8:42.

God has revealed what is to take place in the last days, that His people may be prepared to stand against the tempest of opposition and wrath. Those who have been warned of the events before them are not to sit in calm expectation of the coming storm, comforting themselves that the Lord will shelter His faithful ones in the day of trouble….

It is no time now to allow our minds to be engrossed with things of minor importance…. The Sunday movement is now making its way in darkness. The leaders are concealing the true issue, and many who unite in the movement do not themselves see whither the undercurrent is tending. Its professions are mild and apparently Christian, but when it shall speak it will reveal the spirit of the dragon. It is our duty to do all in our power to avert the threatened danger.46Testimonies for the Church 5:452.

The time is coming when God’s people will feel the hand of persecution because they keep holy the seventh day…. The man of sin, who thought to change times and laws, and who has always oppressed the people of God, will cause laws to be made enforcing the observance of the first day of the week. But God’s people are to stand firm for Him. And the Lord will work in their behalf, showing plainly that He is the God of gods.47Testimonies for the Church 9:229, 230.

Dear Friends,

When Ronnie Jay was still living at home, he and I often went places together. Sometimes it was going to a wildlife area so he could take pictures, sometimes it was on a walk on Sabbath afternoons, sometimes it was simply going to the grocery store. One such time, when we got out of the store, I was pushing the shopping cart and Ronnie Jay was standing at the side sort of pulling it as we walked along. He was thinking, “I wonder why Mom is going this direction. I thought we parked over there.” I was thinking something similar about his leading, but I thought, “Oh well, it isn’t the first time I’ve forgotten where I parked.” Finally, Ronnie Jay said something concerning the way we were going. I told him that I was following his leading. He laughed and said that he had been following mine. At that point, I pushed the trunk latch and a few rows over we found the car. It was so funny that we made up a little joke—What happens when two people who are followers are let loose in a parking lot? They never find their car.

Having no one leading in a unimportant situation just brings a feeling of silliness or embarrassment, but how dangerous it is to follow the wrong person or group in the important things of life. How vital to our present and future happiness it is to choose the right leader. God’s Holy Word tells us, “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil” yet it is so easy to do so. Ex 23:2 Amos asks, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3 Often we are lured into the wrong path by friends or acquaintances before we realize what is happening. They seem to be harmless, yet before long we find ourselves making a compromise here and another there until we are in harmony with them and caught in the devil’s snare. Sometimes we allow the media to guide our thinking until we begin to love what used to alarm us.

We have a great adversary who often tricks us into following him into the wrong path. Peter says of him, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 As that old lion walks about, he bids us follow him into the trap he has prepared for us. Jesus warns of this and gives us some much-needed advice, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matt 7:13, 14 Daily we must ask ourselves if we are allowing others to lead us away from that narrow path. If they are, we must turn from them and step back onto the way that leads to eternal life.

May we follow our Dear Saviour as He leads us to His Heavenly Home is my prayer.

8.Giants of Faith: Joshua and Caleb | 8.1 Faithfulness | 🗺️ LESSONS OF FAITH FROM JOSHUA | 🌱 LIVING FAITH

November 15, 2025 By admin

🟦 Introduction

Lesson 8 focuses on two remarkable men: Joshua and Caleb – heroes of faith who remained loyal to God amid doubt and opposition. While the people often wavered, they held firmly to God’s promises and demonstrated courage, obedience, and perseverance. Their lives show that true faith is revealed not merely through words, but through consistent action. Caleb’s unwavering stance and Joshua’s servant leadership are powerful examples for believers today.
This lesson invites us to reflect on our own faithfulness. Are we following God with all our hearts – even when the path is difficult?

🗺

🗺 LESSONS OF FAITH FROM JOSHUA
⛪ Lesson 8 : Giants of Faith: Joshua and Caleb

📘 8.1 Faithfulness
✨ Unshakable in the Truth – Caleb’s Faithfulness

🟦 Introduction

In a world that often follows the majority and counts votes, God speaks through individuals who don’t go with the flow, but remain faithful.

Lesson 8 begins with a man whose name rarely appears on posters or children’s Bibles – yet he is a quiet giant of faith: Caleb. While ten spies viewed the Promised Land with fear, Caleb saw it through the eyes of faith. And while the masses gave up, he held firm – to God’s promise, to his mission, to his God.

This lesson invites us not to see Caleb as just a historical figure, but as a role model for today:
How do we live out faith when everyone else gives up?
How do we hold on when the arguments of fear shout louder than the promises of God?

Caleb’s life is a call – to you, to me, to all of us:
“Follow the Lord fully – even if you’re the only one.”

…………………………….. 🗺 ……………………………..

📖 Bible Study

Who Was Caleb?

Caleb is first introduced in Numbers 13:6 as one of the twelve spies sent by Moses to explore the Promised Land. He came from the tribe of Judah, one of Israel’s most prominent tribes. The name “Caleb” means “dog” in Hebrew. While that word often carries negative connotations in the Bible, in Caleb’s case, it takes on another meaning: loyalty, faithfulness, vigilance – qualities that shaped his life.

Caleb was the opposite of the other ten spies: he didn’t first see the giants in the land, but remembered the greatness of God. While the majority failed in fear, Caleb stood firm in trust. Joshua 14:6–14 later tells how, at 85, he still boldly claimed his promised inheritance – not with complaint, but with spiritual strength and vision.

Caleb’s life shows: Faith doesn’t only mature with age – it grows through every trial.

The Stark Contrast: Caleb and the Ten Spies

Numbers 13–14 describes one of the most dramatic events in Israel’s history. The spies saw the Promised Land – but while Caleb and Joshua were full of hope and trust, the other ten were ruled by fear and doubt. They spoke of “giants” and “cities with towering walls” (Num. 13:28–33).

This fearful perspective influenced the entire people. Panic spread. The people even wanted to remove Moses and return to Egypt (Num. 14:4). Caleb, along with Joshua, tried to turn them back to God with clear words:

“If the LORD delights in us, He will bring us into this land.” (Num. 14:8)

But the people wanted to stone them (v.10).

The result: the ten spies died in a plague (Num. 14:37), the people had to wander in the wilderness for forty years – and only Joshua and Caleb survived, because they had “wholly followed the Lord” (Num. 32:12).

Caleb’s Legacy: Faithfulness Without Conditions

Decades later, in Joshua 14, Caleb speaks again. It’s been 45 years since he received the promise. Now he stands before Joshua and asks for the region of Hebron – a rugged mountain area fortified by the Anakim.

But Caleb is fearless. There’s no sign of age weariness or spiritual decline. His words are clear:

“I am still as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me.” (Joshua 14:11)

This is not just physical strength – but spiritual resolve. Caleb believed:
If God is for me, no mountain is too high, no fortress too strong.

…………………………….. 🗺 ……………………………..

🗣 Answering the Questions

🟩 Question 1: Who was Caleb? What was his role in God’s people?

Caleb was one of the twelve spies sent to scout Canaan. Alongside Joshua, he was the only one who held a faithful perspective on the Promised Land. Despite overwhelming opposition, he clung to God’s promise. His role was less prominent than that of Moses or Joshua – but his faithfulness was equally vital. He became a symbol of steadfastness and courage.

You don’t have to be the leader of the crowd to be a hero of God.

🟨 Question 2: What does it say about Caleb that he voiced his convictions even when everyone else disagreed – and he was almost killed for it?

It reveals his unwavering loyalty to God, his resolve, and his courageous faith. Caleb didn’t base his stance on public opinion, but on God’s Word. He was willing to risk everything – even his life – for his faith.

In times of fear, pressure, or public rejection, you need an internal compass. Caleb had one – and it was set on God.

🟥 Question 3: What do you do when the majority stands against your convictions?

This is a question every genuine believer must face. Caleb’s example inspires these steps:

  • Pray first: Don’t react impulsively – seek God’s perspective.

  • Take a clear stand: Speak in love, but be firm. Not everything is negotiable.

  • Expect consequences: Faithfulness can be costly – but it’s never in vain.

  • Fear God more than people: Those who seek God’s approval don’t need the crowd’s applause.

…………………………….. 🗺 ……………………………..

✨ Spiritual Principles

  • Faithfulness begins in the heart – and shows in action.

  • The majority isn’t always right. God seeks the faithful, not the many.

  • True greatness is standing firm when no one is applauding.

  • God’s promises are fulfilled – but often after endurance and patience.

…………………………….. 🗺 ……………………………..

🛠 Practical Application

  • Ask yourself daily: Am I living my conviction – or going with the flow?

  • Train faithfulness in small things – in conversations, decisions, and integrity.

  • Stand for truth, even in digital spaces (e.g., social media).

  • Teach your children that conviction matters more than popularity.

…………………………….. 🗺 ……………………………..

🧩 Conclusion

Caleb was not a man of show – but a man of substance.
He stood against the majority because he knew:
God’s Word is more than opinion. It is truth.
His faithfulness did not appear overnight – it was formed in trials, carried through years, and rewarded with eternity.

…………………………….. 🗺 ……………………………..

💭 Thought of the Day

“The world may not remember the voice of the crowd – but it remembers the witness of the faithful.”

…………………………….. 🗺 ……………………………..

The Voice in the Meeting
When conviction speaks louder than applause

Chapter 1 – The Morning Begins

Monday morning, 8:47 a.m. The conference room on the 12th floor was almost full. Tobias Baumgartner, 42, sat at the edge as always. Not an alpha male. Not loud. But a man of principle.

As coworkers settled in with coffee and laptops, Tobias prepared his heart. Not for numbers – but for truth. As every morning, he had prayed:
“Lord, if a decision must be made today, help me do what’s right – not what’s easy.”

✦ ─────────────── ✦ ─────────────── ✦

Chapter 2 – The Proposal

Young project manager Nadine presented a major new contract: a multimillion deal with a well-known tech company. But there was a catch.

“We suggest,” she said, “streamlining the sustainability reports for the official version. Not falsifying, of course not – just… simplifying.”

Everyone nodded. No one objected. The usual mix of sugarcoating and silence.

Tobias’ heart pounded.

✦ ─────────────── ✦ ─────────────── ✦

Chapter 3 – A Voice Speaks

He raised his hand. A small gesture – but in that room, it was like an explosion.

“I have a question about transparency,” he said calmly.
“Should we really embellish reports to gain trust? Trust is built on honesty – not cosmetic numbers.”

The room went silent. Nadine looked surprised. The CEO, slightly annoyed. But Tobias kept speaking – with the clarity of a man who knew whom he served.

“I believe we should be known for acting with integrity. Not just when it benefits us – but especially when it costs us something.”

✦ ─────────────── ✦ ─────────────── ✦

Chapter 4 – Rising Tension

Colleagues looked down. Some shook their heads. Others whispered. No one supported him.

The CEO closed the discussion:
“We’ll postpone this. We’ll revisit it in a smaller group.”

Tobias knew: he had made himself unpopular. There might be consequences.
But deep inside, there was peace.

✦ ─────────────── ✦ ─────────────── ✦

Chapter 5 – A Quiet Thank You

In the elevator that evening, a young intern approached him. Jonas.

“Mr. Baumgartner… I just wanted to say: Thank you. For your courage. I thought the same thing – but I’d never have dared to say it.”

Tobias simply nodded. “Then you say it next time. Sometimes God just needs one person to stand – so that others can follow.”

✦ ─────────────── ✦ ─────────────── ✦

Chapter 6 – Reflection and Hope

At home, Tobias read his Bible:

“But Caleb… followed the Lord fully.” (Joshua 14:14)

He thought of Caleb. And the ten other spies no one remembers anymore. And he prayed:

“Lord, I don’t want to be a name in a statistic. I want to be a witness of Your truth – wherever You place me.”

…………………………….. 🗺 ……………………………..

🔍 Reflections on the Story

  • Caleb stood – and God honored him.

  • Tobias stood – and maybe it was just a small ripple.
But in God’s Kingdom, ripples often begin quietly.

  • Faith is seen when the majority stays silent – and one speaks.

…………………………….. 🗺 ……………………………..

🔑 Key Principles

  • The majority isn’t always right – truth often only needs one person to live it.

  • Spiritual faithfulness doesn’t show itself in worship services – but in daily life.

  • God sees what people overlook – and honors quiet loyalty.

…………………………….. 🗺 ……………………………..

💡 Life Application

  • Be ready to speak your conviction – even if you stand alone.

  • Pray in the morning for the courage to do what’s right – not what’s easy.

  • Live so that your decisions could stand in heaven.

⚖ Judges 3 – Idolatry, Oppression, and God’s Deliverance
✨ How God tests His unfaithful people – and still saves them

📜 Bible Text – Judges 3 (KJV)

1 Now these are the nations which the Lord left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

2 Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;

3 Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baalhermon unto the entering in of Hamath.

4 And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the Lord, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

5 And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:

6 And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.

7 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and forgat the Lord their God, and served Baalim and the groves.

8 Therefore the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years.

9 And when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.

10 And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.

11 And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

12 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the Lord.

13 And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.

14 So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.

15 But when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.

16 But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.

17 And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.

18 And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present.

19 But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.

20 And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.

21 And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:

22 And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.

23 Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them.

24 When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.

25 And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.

26 And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath.

27 And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.

28 And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the Lord hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.

29 And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.

30 So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.

31 And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel.

══════════════════════════════════════════════

🔵 Introduction

Judges 3 is a key chapter in the entire book. It shows Israel’s recurring cycle:
👉 Apostasy – Oppression – Cry for help – Deliverance – Rest – renewed apostasy.

God allows foreign nations to remain in the land in order to test, train, and sharpen Israel’s faith.
In this chapter the first three judges appear:

  • Othniel – the exemplary, faithful first judge

  • Ehud – the unexpected left-handed deliverer

  • Shamgar – the brief but impressive rescuer

This chapter shows: God uses anyone who makes himself available to Him – even in unusual ways.

══════════════════════════════════════════════

🟡 Commentary

1⃣ The nations as a test for Israel (vv. 1–6)

God leaves certain nations in the land so that Israel might:

  • learn war (spiritually and practically)

  • be tested in obedience

  • stay awake, not resting in false security

But Israel mingles with the Canaanites:
They marry their sons and daughters, and—worse—adopt their gods.

👉 Compromises become chains.

2⃣ The first deliverer: Othniel (vv. 7–11)

Israel forgets the Lord and serves Baal and Asherah.
God gives them into the hand of Cushan-Rishathaim for eight harsh years.

But Israel cries to the Lord, and He raises:

Othniel – the first judge

  • the Spirit of the Lord comes upon him

  • he leads the people in battle

  • God grants victory

  • the land has 40 years of rest

👉 Othniel is the model of a faithful, spiritual leader.

3⃣ The unusual deliverer: Ehud (vv. 12–30)

After Othniel’s death, Israel again falls away.
God strengthens Eglon, king of Moab, who oppresses Israel for 18 years.

Then comes Ehud, the Benjaminite – left-handed, a detail full of meaning:

  • Weapons were normally worn on the left → his on the right → unnoticed

  • God uses his uniqueness as a strategic advantage

Ehud’s approach:

  1. He brings a tribute offering.

  2. He turns back and requests a private audience.

  3. He says: “I have a word from God for you.”

  4. He kills Eglon with the concealed double-edged sword.

  5. He flees, gathers Israel, occupies the Jordan fords.

  6. Israel defeats 10,000 Moabite warriors.

Result: 80 years of rest.

👉 God uses not only the strong – but the unexpected.

4⃣ The brief report about Shamgar (v. 31)

Shamgar, son of Anath:

  • kills 600 Philistines

  • with an oxgoad – a simple farming tool

  • saves Israel

Short but powerful:

👉 God can do much with little.

══════════════════════════════════════════════

🟢 Summary

Judges 3 shows:

  • Israel repeatedly falls into idolatry.

  • God allows tests to reveal their hearts.

  • Yet every time Israel cries out, God sends a deliverer.

  • Othniel represents faithful obedience.

  • Ehud shows God’s creative, surprising ways.

  • Shamgar proves that God can use simple people with simple tools.

Human unfaithfulness is great – God’s patience is greater.

══════════════════════════════════════════════

📢 Message for Us Today

1⃣ God uses trials to strengthen our faith – not destroy us.
Obstacles are God’s tools.

2⃣ Compromises always lead to spiritual bondage.
The small concessions of v. 6 become the idols of v. 7.

3⃣ God hears every cry for help.
Whenever Israel calls, God intervenes—always.

4⃣ God uses unusual people and unexpected ways.
A left-handed man (Ehud) and a farmer with a stick (Shamgar) become God’s heroes.

5⃣ Rest comes when God’s people return to Him.
The 40 and 80 years of peace are the result of obedience.

══════════════════════════════════════════════

💬 Reflection Prompt

👉 What “Moabites” or battles are you facing in your life—and could they be God’s tests meant to strengthen you?

👉 Which call of God challenges you today to take steps of faith?

👉 Are there compromises that have quietly slipped into your heart?

📘 Ellen White | Patriarchs and Prophets – Chapter 41
🔥 Apostasy at the Jordan | Warning against spiritual apostasy and moral seduction

🌐 Read online here

═════════════════════════════════════════════

🔵 Introduction

The people of Israel stood directly at the border of the promised land. After great victories and divine guidance, the long-awaited homeland was within reach. But precisely in this moment of outward success, rest, and comfort came one of the worst spiritual collapses in Israel’s history: the apostasy at Baal-Peor.

This chapter vividly describes how moral seduction, spiritual unfaithfulness, and worldly mingling separated God’s people from their Lord—and what deep spiritual lessons it holds for us today.

═════════════════════════════════════════════

🟡 Commentary

1. The surroundings of Shittim – beauty and danger

Israel camped in a fertile, tropical plain by the Jordan. Outward prosperity, pleasant surroundings, and rest felt relaxing—but also disarming. This phase of leisure became a spiritual trap.

2. The secret seduction by the Midianite women

Midianite women entered the camp unobtrusively. Their intention was not friendship, but targeted seduction into sin. Under the guise of harmony and culture, the Israelites were to be led into idolatry and moral excess.

3. The feast in honor of the idols – Balaam’s strategy

Balaam, who had previously been unable to curse Israel, now found another way: he led the people close to temptation. Music, wine, cheerful feasting, and sensual allure undermined their self-control. Moral fall turned into idolatry.

4. The deadly plague – the consequences of apostasy

The spiritual and moral collapse had catastrophic consequences:
– A plague broke out that took tens of thousands.
– The leaders of the apostasy were judged.
– The camp underwent drastic purification.

5. The zeal of Phinehas

With holy determination, Phinehas acted to stop the judgment.
God affirmed his action and granted him the “covenant of peace”—an everlasting priesthood.
The message: God’s zeal against sin is an expression of His love for His people.

6. God’s judgment on Midian

Because Midian had deliberately led Israel into sin, divine judgment followed.
The lesson: those who cause others to fall spiritually bear tremendous responsibility.

7. The timeless warning—from the Old Testament to the end times

The account is not merely past. Paul explicitly states:
“This happened to them as an example … written for our admonition.” (1 Cor. 10:11)

Just as then:
– Seduction through pleasures
– Blending with worldly values
– moral dullness
– playing with temptation
still lead us away from God.

8. The spiritual mechanism of falling

The decline does not begin suddenly, but:
– thoughts become impure
– vigilance weakens
– prayer is neglected
– association with the world becomes careless
– small compromises accumulate
– in the end, a person visibly falls into sin

9. God’s way of escape: purity of heart

The Bible calls for a sanctified, guarded inner life:
– “Guard your heart” (Prov. 4:23)
– “Gird up the loins of your mind” (1 Pet. 1:13)
– “Whatever is true… think on these things!” (Phil. 4:8)
– “Create in me a clean heart” (Ps. 51:10)

Victory over temptation always begins in the heart—not in outward behavior.

═════════════════════════════════════════════

🟢 Summary

The apostasy at the Jordan shows that the greatest enemy of God’s people is not external threats but inner susceptibility. Israel did not fall by war, but by moral corruption and spiritual negligence. The path into sin began quietly, led to open excess, and ended in heavy judgment. Yet God offers purity, renewal, and protection to those who remain watchful and treasure His Word in their hearts.

═════════════════════════════════════════════

📢 Message for Us Today

Spiritually speaking, we stand just as close to the “heavenly Canaan” as Israel did then. That is why the danger today is great—to fall in this final phase of history through comfort, worldly blending, or moral temptation. Satan uses the same means as then:
– sensual allure
– love of pleasure
– mingling with godless values
– neglect of prayer
– compromises in thinking

Therefore God’s call is:
Watchfulness, purity of heart, separation from destructive influences, and deep connection with His Word.

═════════════════════════════════════════════

💬 Reflection Questions

What “Shittim moments” are there in my life—times of rest or self-satisfaction when I am particularly vulnerable to temptation? And how can I guard my heart before small compromises grow into great sins?

📘 Ellen White | Patriarchs and Prophets – Chapter 42
🔥 The Law Repeated | Moses’ final exhortations and God’s enduring call to obedience

🌐 Read online here

═════════════════════════════════════════════

🔵 Introduction

Shortly before entering the promised land, Moses gathers the people of Israel one last time. He knows that his time as leader is ending—and that he himself will not enter Canaan. But before he departs, he repeats God’s law and reminds them of the great responsibility connected with the covenant with God. In a passionate, far-reaching appeal, he calls the people to faithfulness, obedience, and a choice for life.

═════════════════════════════════════════════

🟡 Commentary

1. Moses’ farewell in humility and concern

Moses asks God to allow him to go into the land—God does not permit it. Yet Moses accepts God’s decision and is not concerned about himself but about the people. He asks for a successor—and God chooses Joshua.

2. Joshua’s calling – a spiritual leader appointed

God chooses Joshua, “a man in whom is the Spirit” (Num. 27:18). Moses lays hands on him before the whole nation, investing him with authority. This shows: leadership is not human ambition but a divine commission.

3. Why the law needed to be repeated

The new generation was young at Sinai. They needed to hear God’s law again—to understand why obedience is the foundation for blessing, safety, and fellowship with God. The repetition was meant to touch heart and conscience anew.

4. Looking back at God’s guidance and grace

Moses reminds Israel of:

  • the deliverance from Egypt

  • the miracles in the wilderness

  • the giving of the law

  • God’s nearness

He shows: No other nation was ever so loved, guided, and blessed by God.

5. Israel—chosen out of love, not merit

“Not because you were more in number… but because He loved you” (Deut. 7:7–9). God’s covenant is based on faithfulness and grace—not on Israel’s strength. This truth is central to prevent pride and self-righteousness.

6. The promised land – both gift and responsibility

Moses describes the land: fertile, beautiful, supplied by God. But the warning follows immediately: When you are full, do not forget the Lord (Deut. 6:10–12). Prosperity can become a danger if it creates spiritual drowsiness.

7. Blessing and curse – the choice of life

Chapter 28 contains two mighty lists:

  • Blessing for obedience: abundance, protection, success

  • Curse for disobedience: hardship, scattering, judgment
These warnings were tragically fulfilled in Israel’s history—among them the destruction of Jerusalem by Rome.

8. The solemn appeal: Choose life!

“I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse… therefore choose life” (Deut. 30:19).
God does not force—He calls. Obedience is not external duty but a decision born of love for God.

9. The Song of Moses – remembrance in poetic form

To imprint everything, Moses composes a song. It recounts God’s dealings and warns toward faithfulness. The people are to memorize it and pass it on to future generations—God’s truth is meant to penetrate the heart.

═════════════════════════════════════════════

🟢 Summary

Chapter 42 is Moses’ final great appearance before his death. He repeats the law, calls the people to decision, and transfers leadership to Joshua. The heart of his message: Israel was chosen by grace—now they are to respond with obedience and love. Blessing and curse lie openly before them. The choice is theirs.

═════════════════════════════════════════════

📢 Message for Us Today

We too stand spiritually at the border of the “promised land”—the second coming of Jesus. God’s law still stands as the standard for our lives. The choice between life and death, obedience or our own path, arises anew each day. Prosperity, routine, and spiritual indifference are the same dangers now as then. God’s call applies to us as well:
– Choose life.
– Hold fast to the Word.
– Teach it to your children.
– Live with God—and for God.

═════════════════════════════════════════════

💬 Reflection Questions

➡ What shapes my daily decisions—comfort or obedience?
➡ Is God’s law alive in my heart—or merely a duty?
➡ How can others tell that I have chosen life with God?
➡ How can I pass on the spiritual heritage to the next generation?

16.11.2025 |🌾JOSEPH – FAITH THAT CARRIES YOU THROUGH | 19.When God Changes the Season | ⚓ HEART ANCHOR | Youth Devotional

November 15, 2025 By admin

📅 November 16, 2025

🌾 Joseph – Faith That Carries You Through
Devotions from the Life of a Dreamer with Character

🌅 19.When God Changes the Season
How God Leads Joseph – and Us – Into New Life Chapters

📖 Daily Bible Verse

“He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”
Daniel 2:21

────────────────🌾────────────────

👣 Introduction

The night before, Joseph had still heard the key turning from the inside of his cell. The cold stone walls were familiar, the rhythm of prison life ingrained in him. He didn’t expect any change—least of all such a sudden one.

But at dawn, a voice woke him: “Joseph! Get up! Pharaoh is calling you!”
What had remained unchanged for years changed in an instant.

This was often the case in Joseph’s life: seasons seemed to drag on forever—the years as a slave, the long days in prison—and then came God’s moment, turning everything around. When the door opened, it wasn’t just a new task—it was a whole new chapter in God’s plan.

────────────────🌾────────────────

📜 Joseph’s Journey: Through God’s Changing Seasons

1. The Long Winter
The years in Potiphar’s house and in prison felt like an endless winter for Joseph. He served faithfully, but with no prospect of change. Yet in hindsight, we see: God used this time to strengthen him—in integrity, self-control, and faith.

2. The Sudden Spring Day
One morning the call came. No warning, no days of preparation—just a moment that changed everything. That’s often how God’s timing works: slowly prepared, but suddenly revealed.

3. The Inner Transformation
Before Pharaoh stood not a bitter prisoner, but a man who had learned to give God the glory: “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.” (Genesis 41:16)
The external shift was only possible because the internal transformation had already happened.

4. The Assignment in the New Chapter
God didn’t elevate Joseph just to reward him or to free him out of pity, but to place him in a key position—for the protection of many people. Every change of season in God’s plan serves a purpose greater than our personal gain.

────────────────🌾────────────────

💎 What Can We Learn From Joseph?

  1. Faithfulness in the Small Prepares You for the Great
Joseph served in Potiphar’s house and in prison with the same dedication he later showed in the palace.

  2. Character Matters More Than Talent
His gift of interpreting dreams opened doors—but his solid character kept him in them.

  3. Patience in Waiting
Even when he was forgotten, he held on to God and trusted that God’s timing is best.

  4. Forgiveness Instead of Bitterness
When he had the power to take revenge on his brothers, he chose reconciliation.

  5. Humility Despite Promotion
Even as the second-most powerful man in Egypt, he said: “It is not in me; God will give you the answer.”

  6. God is Greater Than Our Plans
His dreams came true—but as part of a much bigger rescue plan for many people.

────────────────🌾────────────────

🌱 Practical Steps for Our Own Season of Change

  • Faithfulness Today – The day in the palace often begins with years of hidden faithfulness.

  • Cultivate Inner Readiness – Stay spiritually awake, even when nothing visible seems to happen.

  • Entrust the Past to God – It shapes us, but it must not bind us.

  • Focus on God’s Mission – The new always serves His plan.

────────────────🌾────────────────

💭 Practical Questions for Reflection

  • Where do you see parallels between Joseph’s transition from prison to palace and your own life chapters?

  • What from your “old season” is hard for you to let go of?

  • What habits or attitudes do you need now to remain faithful in the new?

────────────────🌾────────────────

🙏 Prayer

Lord,
Thank You that, just like with Joseph, my times are in Your hands.
Help me to be faithful when it is quiet—and ready when You open doors.
Let me release the old without bitterness,
and receive the new with humility and obedience.
Use me in every season for Your glory.
Amen.

────────────────🌾────────────────

📌 Key Thought of the Day

God’s change of seasons often comes suddenly—
but He has been preparing you quietly for a long time.

────────────────🌾────────────────

🌿 Blessing to Close

The God who turned Joseph’s prison into a throne room
is still the same today.
He knows your yesterday, He shapes your today,
and He holds the right moment for your tomorrow.
When He calls,
your heart will be ready.

Sunday: Faithfulness

November 15, 2025 By admin

Daily Lesson for Sunday 16th of November 2025

Read Numbers 13:6,30-32 and Joshua 14:6,14. Who was Caleb? What was his place among the people of Israel?

The name of Caleb comes from the Hebrew word keleb, “dog,” which occurs in the Old Testament, always in a negative context. However, keleb is used in extra-biblical letters and hymns to express a servant’s courage, tenacity, and faithfulness to his or her master. In this respect, Caleb was faithful to his name, demonstrating throughout his life unwavering loyalty to his Lord.

Joshua and Caleb Show Trust in God

Image © Review & Herald Publishing at Goodsalt.com

What does it say about Caleb that he was willing to speak his mind even though the majority of the spies had a completely different opinion, and the people of Israel threatened him with death? See Numbers 14:6-10,21-25; Numbers 26:65; Numbers 32:12.

Consider these important Israelite leaders, contemporaries of Joshua and Caleb: Shammua, Shaphat, Igal, Palti, Gaddiel, Gaddi, Ammiel, Sethur, Nahbi, and Geuel. Do these names sound familiar?

Probably not.

Why? Because they are the names of the other ten spies sent by Moses to explore the land of Canaan. They are forgotten because their names were not worthy of being remembered. The report that they brought portrayed the Promised Land as impossible to conquer. They saw themselves as grasshoppers compared to the giants who inhabited some areas of the land, and their hearts melted with fear at the “impregnable” walls of the fortified cities in Canaan.

Caleb, as the older of the two spies who brought a positive report, takes the lead in presenting another possibility: the attitude of faith. He was willing to speak up for what he knew was right, despite the opposition, even in the face of potential death: “And all the congregation said to stone them with stones” (Numbers 14:10, NKJV).

What do you do when most people around you seem to have a different opinion, one that goes contrary to your deepest convictions?

Lessons of Faith from Joshua – Lesson 8.Giants of Faith: Joshua and Caleb | 📘 Sabbath School with Pastor Mark Finley

November 15, 2025 By admin

Series LESSONS OF FAITH FROM JOSHUA with Pastor Mark Finley
Lesson 8.Giants of Faith: Joshua and Caleb
Wholeheartedly Following the Lord
Introduction:
Lesson 8 focuses on two remarkable men: Joshua and Caleb – heroes of faith who remained faithful to God in the midst of doubt and opposition. While the people often wavered, they clung steadfastly to God’s promises and demonstrated courage, obedience, and perseverance. Their lives show that genuine faith is not only expressed in words but becomes visible through consistent action. Caleb’s unwavering attitude and Joshua’s servant leadership are powerful examples for believers today. This lesson invites us to reflect on our own faithfulness. Do we follow God wholeheartedly – even when the path is difficult?
Content:
8.1 Faithfulness

Unshakable in the Truth – Caleb’s Faithfulness
Caleb was a man of extraordinary faith and courage who did not bow to majority opinion, even under great pressure. While ten of the spies lost courage and described the promised land as impossible to conquer, Caleb remained convinced that God would lead His people to victory. He stood boldly against the fear and unbelief of the majority and held firmly to God’s promise. Caleb’s faithfulness was rewarded: he was one of the few from his generation allowed to enter the promised land. His attitude shows that true faith does not require the approval of the majority but rests on the firm conviction that God keeps His word. Caleb remains a shining example of faithfulness amid doubt and resistance.
8.2 Give Me This Hill Country
Wholehearted for the Lord – Caleb’s Uncompromising Faith
Caleb’s and Joshua’s mindset was marked by deep trust in God’s promises and unshakable determination to follow His way – regardless of circumstances or popular opinion. Caleb followed the Lord wholeheartedly, without compromise, and preserved his faith for decades. Even in old age he firmly believed that God would give him the promised inheritance – which is why he boldly declared: “Give me this mountain!” (Joshua 14:12). He was not seeking comfort but seeking to fulfill God’s assignment. To follow the Lord wholeheartedly means to remain faithful in every situation – with a heart that is undivided. Caleb shows us that those who trust God without compromise will experience His promises becoming reality.
8.3 The Power of Example
Faith That Lives On – The Strength of a Good Example
Caleb’s faith and determination extended beyond his own life – they influenced the next generation. Othniel, his nephew and later a judge of Israel, courageously followed his example and took responsibility in faith. Caleb’s daughter Achsah also showed spiritual boldness when she asked confidently for an inheritance – in the same spirit as her father. These accounts show that lived-out faith inspires others and moves them to take God’s promises seriously in their own lives. A credible example is often more powerful than many words: it shapes hearts and guides decisions. Our task is to pass on the baton of faith through our example – so that God’s work continues through future generations.
8.4 Humble Hero
True Greatness Reveals Itself in Humility
Joshua, the great leader of Israel, humbly waited until everyone else had received their inheritance before he took his own – and that from the “remaining” land. Instead of seeking fame or wealth, he chose a simple place near the sanctuary, because God’s presence mattered more to him than outward honor. His behavior shows genuine leadership strength: he put himself last, served faithfully, and kept his focus on God. This attitude is a powerful example for us today – especially in a time when self-promotion is often valued more than character. Joshua’s humility invites us to examine our priorities: Are we seeking recognition, or closeness to God? A life devoted to God often begins with the choice to serve quietly while letting others go first.
8.5 Changed by Contemplation
Transformed by Gazing on Jesus
When we reflect on the life of Jesus and the great heroes of faith, our thinking is renewed and our character is shaped. Continually beholding Jesus – His nature, His love, His devotion – transforms us inwardly and helps us become more like Him (2 Corinthians 3:18). The world wants to shape us from the outside, but the Holy Spirit transforms us from the inside out through God’s power. It is up to us whose influence we allow: the pressure of the world or the work of the Spirit. Daily surrender, intentional meditation, and the decision to remain close to God make true transformation possible. In this way, our lives become a living testimony to Christ.
8.6 Summary
Faithfulness in the Midst of Testing – Joshua and Caleb as Role Models of Faith
Joshua and Caleb were men characterized by unwavering faith and uncompromising loyalty to God – even when they stood alone. While the majority of the spies spread fear, they boldly held to God’s promises. In his old age, Caleb still demanded the promised mountain, and Joshua put his own inheritance last to serve the people first. Both were role models for the next generation and demonstrated that spiritual greatness is revealed through humility, trust, and obedience. Their lives call us to place God’s word above every human opinion. Those who follow the Lord wholeheartedly will experience the fulfillment of His promises.
