Friday: Further Thought ~ Receiving an Unshakeable Kingdom

March 17, 2022 By admin

Further Thought:

“During the thousand years between the first and the second resurrection the judgment of the wicked takes place. The apostle Paul points to this judgment as an event that follows the second advent. ‘Judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts.’ 1 Corinthians 4:5.

Daniel declares that when the Ancient of Days came, ‘judgment was given to the saints of the Most High.’ Daniel 7:22. At this time the righteous reign as kings and priests unto God. John in the Revelation says: ‘I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them.’ ‘They shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.’ Revelation 20:4, Revelation 20:6. It is at this time that, as foretold by Paul, ‘the saints shall judge the world.’ 1 Corinthians 6:2. In union with Christ they judge the wicked, comparing their acts with the statute book, the Bible, and deciding every case according to the deeds done in the body. Then the portion which the wicked must suffer is meted out, according to their works; and it is recorded against their names in the book of death.

Satan also and evil angels are judged by Christ and His people. Says Paul: ‘Know ye not that we shall judge angels?’ Verse 3. And Jude declares that ‘the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.’ Jude 6.” — Ellen G. White,  The Great Controversy, pages 660, 661.

Discussion Questions:
  1. What does the participation of the saints in the judgment of the wicked (1 Corinthians 6:3, Jude 6) say about God and how transparent He will be with us in showing us His goodness and fairness in how He has dealt with sin and evil?
  2. Read Exodus 32:32, Psalm 56:8, Psalm 69:28, Psalm 139:16, Isaiah 4:3, Daniel 12:1, Malachi 3:16, Luke 10:20, Revelation 13:8, and Revelation 17:8. These are references to God’s books in heaven. What kinds of things are registered in these books? Why is it important that God maintains a record of our tears (Psalm 56:8), for example? If God knows everything, what is the purpose of such books or records?
  3. Why do you think it is important that Hebrews ends the argument of the epistle with a link to the promises of Daniel chapter 7? Why are these links important in the context of Jesus’ ministry in heaven? What does Daniel chapter 7 teach us about the end of all earthly and fallen things?

<–Thursday

Amen!(0)

Belief #9: Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ [What Hope Do They Bring?] – Pastor Ted Wilson

March 17, 2022 By admin

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSxmbdTQu-o?version=3&rel=1&showsearch=0&showinfo=1&iv_load_policy=1&fs=1&hl=en-GB&autohide=2&wmode=transparent&w=1280&h=720]

In this episode, Pastor Ted Wilson talks about Jesus Christ. He focuses on His life, death, and resurrection, the central focus of the Scriptures and the ninth fundamental belief of the Seventh-day Adventists.

This belief is at the very heart of Christianity because Christ’s life on earth, death on the cross, and glorious resurrection give us hope of salvation.

In the beginning, when God created Adam and Eve, they were perfect. Unfortunately, when they chose to disobey Him, sin entered the world. Thankfully, God had devised a plan to save them. That is, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel” (Genesis 3:15).

This beautiful promise signified that God the Son, Jesus Christ, would come to earth, be born of a virgin, and take on our humanity. He would die in our place, taking the penalty of our sin by dying on the cross that we could be reconciled. He suffered the condemnation that should have been ours to set us free from sin and allow us to live forever with Him.

“The cross of Christ will be the science and the song of the redeemed through all eternity. In Christ glorified they will behold Christ crucified. Never will it be forgotten that He Whose power created and upheld the unnumbered worlds through the vast realms of space, the Beloved of God, the Majesty of heaven, He Whom cherub and shining seraph delighted to adore—humbled Himself to uplift fallen man; that He bore the guilt and shame of sin, and the hiding of His Father’s face, till the woes of a lost world broke His heart and crushed out His life on Calvary’s cross” (The Great Controversy, p. 651).

But Jesus was not alone in this great sacrifice. He was with God the Father. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

God gave the gift of His Son so that we might have eternal life. We must accept this gift and allow Him to change our hearts. Not only did Jesus die for us but He also lived a sinless life that serves as an example for us to live by. His life, death, and resurrection gave us salvation and showed us what love really is.

The Seventh-day Adventist fundamental belief #9 states: “In Christ’s life of perfect obedience to God’s will, His suffering, death, and resurrection, God provided the only means of atonement for human sin, so that those who by faith accept this atonement may have eternal life, and the whole creation may better understand the infinite and holy love of the Creator. This perfect atonement vindicates the righteousness of God’s law and the graciousness of His character; for it both condemns our sin and provides for our forgiveness. The death of Christ is substitutionary and expiatory, reconciling and transforming. The bodily resurrection of Christ proclaims God’s triumph over the forces of evil, and for those who accept the atonement assures their final victory over sin and death. It declares the Lordship of Jesus Christ, before whom every knee in heaven and on earth will bow.”

What an amazing, incredible God we serve! He has provided a way for our salvation. As Paul put it, “For since by man came death, by Man (that is, Jesus) also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive” (1 Cor. 15:21, 22).

There’s so much to learn from this fundamental belief by visiting www.adventist.org/life-death-and-resurrection-of-christ/ and reading The Desire of Ages by Ellen G. White.

As an appeal, Pastor Wilson invites you to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Jesus is waiting for you with forgiveness freely available to all who come. Now is the time to come to Him.

March 2022 President’s Report: ‘God’s Mysterious Ways’

March 17, 2022 By admin

It was dark as we bounced and bumped along the potholed road to an out-of-the-way lodge near Livingstone, Zambia. We had tried to book a hotel in the city, but there were no vacancies due to a government convention. When we finally found a room in a lodge outside the city, we’d jumped on it, no questions asked. Now we were regretting our decision. We had flown to Livingtone to meet with union leaders and pastors to plan one of the largest evangelistic events ever held in Zambia. Surely, the devil wasn’t happy and was trying to prevent it. But what we didn’t know is that God had a plan all along, because in that lodge in the middle of nowhere, we found the one person who made it possible for Adventist World Radio to begin its cell phone evangelism project four years ago. Today, millions around the world are listening to truth-filled messages on their cell phones. It was an outcome no one could have predicted, but God’s providence ordained it. Watch this video and be inspired! Yours in the Blessed Hope, Duane McKey
President Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07r_Jth5P4c
