As Seventh-day Adventists we are people with a mission; we are people with a purpose. And what a privilege it is to be called by God to join Him in His amazing mission and purpose in these last days of earth’s history.
In the past few months we have seen how quickly world events can change. Almost overnight, as it were, world economies were hit hard, community and business life almost shut down, and of course we’ve also seen terrible loss in human life.
This has brought many challenges to our…

ADRA project contributes to the recovery of drug addicts
Seventh-day Adventists in Brazil are helping drug addicts rebuild their world, one life at a time. Surveys carried out in August last year in the country polling approximately 17 thousand people in more than 300 municipalities reveal that 4.9 million Brazilians have used some illicit drug in the last 12 months. The percentage is even higher among young adults in the ages of 18 to 24. Marijuana was the most consumed illicit drug in Brazil, followed by cocaine. Between 12 and 65 years old, 1.4…

Impossible Young Adult Conference Defies Limitations
Dozens of young people gathered in living rooms across South Queensland for the annual Young Adult “Exiles” Conference for 2020, which was hosted online over the weekend of June 19-21.
“The most significant element of the entire conference was that young adults throughout South Queensland met in homes in small groups and engaged as a community,” said Alina van Rensburg, young adult ministry coordinator for the South Queensland Conference.

Avondale University College to Undergo Sustainable Transformation
A faculty restructure and the introduction of a research fellowship are the first two markers on Avondale University College’s road map to sustainable transformation.
The restructure will reduce the number of faculties from two—Education, Business and Science, and Arts, Nursing and Theology—to one. The fellowship, offered at different levels, will see staff members apply for, rather than receive, research funding.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Kevin Petrie announced the decisions in…

“I’m a Recovering Racist.”
“Ah, you’ve got jungle fever.” I’d just told this individual that my girlfriend was a Pacific Islander. I knew they were joking, that they often had a cheeky, irreverent wit. I don’t remember how I responded but, 13 years later, I do remember the comment.
When I wrote an editorial about cross-cultural marriage, I received a letter telling me that I should keep my marriage because God requires no divorce, but that we should never have children, because—I don’t remember the exact words—“half…

Reaching Hearts in Southern Asia
Sarah is a Global Mission pioneer who works in a large city in Southern Asia. When her husband left her four years ago, she knew she had to find a way to support herself. But she didn’t know where to look for a job.
She prayed for direction and God impressed her to share His Word with the people living around her.
Sarah began visiting her neighbors in their homes. “I prayed for the sick, and they got well,” she said. “I prayed for those who had evil spirits, and the spirits went away. I prayed…

Anticipating AT1–July 10, 2020
Preachers love to quote Jesus saying, “Go sell everything, and give the money to the poor,” but is that really the whole story? Who supported the Savior and the disciples as they walked all over Galilee? Who had the means to bury Jesus in a proper tomb? Christ certainly lived on miracles, but he […] Source: https://atoday.org/anticipating-at1-july-10-2020/
