These are some of the questions we will be dealing with on this episode of Level Up: The Quarantine Dilemma: – Where did COVID-19 come from? Was it genetically modified? – How have pandemics increased racial profiling and prejudice? – This is the seventh coronavirus that jumped from animals to humans. How does it compare to the other 6? – Some countries didn’t go into lockdown. Are they better off now? Should we open up? – There are dozens of vaccines being worked on right now. How likely are they to work and when? – Are we going to see a second wave in the fall? What can we learn from the 1918 pandemic when it comes to waves? – Before germ theory (Louis Pasteur, 1861) were there any cases of quarantine? – What are the connections between COVID-19 and the bubonic plague? – The word “quarantine” was first used during the time of the Black Death. What does it mean and why does it matter in this pandemic? – Is there any evidence of quarantine in the Bible? – Is the government violating our religious freedom and personal liberty in this lockdown? – In a time of such chaos and concern where can we turn, where can we find peace? In today’s changing world, we need a place to go for dependable and up-to-date health information. Fascinating aspects even at the beginning of the Bible
Memory Text: John 1,1-4 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

Sabbath School Lesson: When God Made the Earth Part 1
The first chapters of Genesis are important. They show us the most important teachings in the #Bible. We see the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They work together to make the earth and humans. We learn about the Sabbath and how evil started. We learn about the #Savior and God’s plan to save us. We learn about the worldwide #Flood and God’s agreement. Genesis also shows us why people started talking in different languages. The family lists in Genesis show us Bible history from the time #God made the earth to Abraham’s time. Finally, in Genesis, we see the power of God’s spoken Word. We learn about #marriage, taking care of God’s gifts, and God’s promise of a new earth. All these topics start in Genesis. #Genesis will be our study this week and next week. Sabbath School Lesson 8: https://bit.ly/3fQLZRq Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQoNe9D3R5g
Atheist Shares Christ
Esko was 63 and ill when he showed up at Piikkiö Seventh-day Adventist Church in southwestern Finland.
“I don’t need the food,” he told food pantry director Riitta-Liisa Peltonen as he picked out vegetables, meat, and bread. “It’s for my friends.”
Riitta-Liisa looked tenderly at the obese man. The odor of sweat and unwashed clothes clung to him. He suffered severe liver problems after years of hard drinking. His eyes were kind.
“Are you a Christian?” Riitta-Liisa asked.
Esko shifted his eyes…

Venezuelan immigrants receive masks, food and clothes donation
Immigrant families are among the most vulnerable affected by the coronavirus crisis. In Brazil, many immigrants have lost their jobs or had their income reduced due to the pandemic, and they lack the basic resources to live with dignity. It is at a time like this that Adventist Solidarity Action (ASA) becomes one of the only hopes for these people.
On April 26, dozens of Venezuelan immigrants residing in Guatambu, a town of about 5,000 in western Santa Catarina, received food, clothing, shoes…

Back to church
I miss church. This is probably the longest I’ve experienced not being able to go to church.
Recently my wife and I were playing worship music from YouTube and I found myself longing to be singing in a congregation, worshipping together again. I can’t wait. I can’t wait to hug my friends and shake hands and worship together while catching up.
So, with a number of our Pacific countries planning or starting to relax lockdown laws, here are some important things I hope we can remember as we start…
