23.11.2025 |🌾JOSEPH – FAITH THAT CARRIES YOU THROUGH | 26.When God Uses You for Others | ⚓ HEART ANCHOR | Youth Devotional

November 22, 2025 By admin

📅 November 23, 2025

🌾 Joseph – Faith That Carries You Through
Devotions from the Life of a Dreamer with Character

🤲 26. When God Uses You for Others
Why your story is bigger than your pain

📖 Daily Bible Verse

“God sent me ahead of you to preserve your life.”
Genesis 45:5

────────────────🌾────────────────

🕊 Introduction

We usually see our life from our own perspective.
We think about what affects us, what hurts us, what we are waiting for.
But God sees further. He sees not only you, but also the people He intends to touch through your life.

Joseph recognized this greater perspective only in hindsight — and it changed how he understood his past.

────────────────🌾────────────────

📜 Devotion

Joseph’s path was marked by breaks and setbacks.
The dreams of his youth did not lead to quick fulfillment, but into situations that looked like loss and failure.

Being sold by his brothers tore him away from his family and everything familiar.
At Potiphar’s house, he tried to find his footing again and work faithfully, but a false accusation sent him to prison.
Even there he worked reliably, though he had no control over his circumstances.

These years were burdensome.
Joseph could have given up.
But he chose to be faithful in every situation and to take responsibility.
This attitude did not immediately change his circumstances — but it shaped his character.

During this time, God was working behind the scenes.
He was preparing Joseph for a task that Joseph himself could not yet see.
When Joseph later interpreted Pharaoh’s dream and was entrusted with responsibility over Egypt’s stores, it became clear that Joseph had been shaped precisely for this role.

When the famine began, people from many regions came to Egypt — among them Joseph’s brothers.
They had no idea who stood before them, but Joseph recognized them immediately.

This moment was decisive.
Joseph could have focused on his own wounds.
But he saw the bigger picture: his entire story had led him to a position from which he could help others — even those who had harmed him.

He later told his brothers that God had sent him ahead of them to preserve life.
With this, Joseph made clear that he did not judge his past only from a human point of view.
He saw God’s greater plan behind it.

His attitude shows:
The path God takes with us is sometimes difficult, but never meaningless.
Many things that hurt gain meaning only later, when we see that God used them to prepare us for others.

Joseph became a source of help for an entire nation and for his own family.
Not because he had done everything perfectly, but because God used his difficult years to prepare him for a greater task.

Thus his personal pain became part of a much larger rescue plan.

────────────────🌾────────────────

💡 Thoughts for Your Heart

  • God often shapes you in times you would never have chosen yourself.

  • Your story can help others — even if you do not see it yet.

  • Hard paths do not mean that God has forgotten you.

  • God works not only in you, but also through you.

────────────────🌾────────────────

👣 Practical Steps

  • Look at moments in your life in which you grew — even though they were difficult.

  • Ask God in prayer whom you could strengthen or support through your experiences.

  • Do not focus only on your own needs, but also on those of the people around you.

  • Practice faithfulness in the tasks before you today — not only in the big ones of tomorrow.

────────────────🌾────────────────

💭 Questions for Reflection

  • Which difficult experiences have shaped me or made me stronger?

  • Are there people I could help today because I have lived through something similar?

  • Do I struggle to believe that God has a bigger plan for my path?

  • Where might God be “sending me ahead” of someone right now?

────────────────🌾────────────────

🙏 Prayer

Lord,
You know my path and every step that brought me to where I am today.
Help me to see the bigger connections I cannot yet recognize.
Give me a heart willing to serve others — even when it costs me something.
Use my experiences to bring hope and direction to others.
Let me see that my life is part of Your plan.
Amen.

────────────────🌾────────────────

🌿 Blessing

May the Lord who led Joseph through difficult times
also lead you and make you a blessing to others.

May He give you clarity about your calling,
strength for your journey,
and the peace that comes from knowing
that God wastes nothing.

Amen.

Sunday: Eden and Canaan

November 22, 2025 By admin

Daily Lesson for Sunday 23rd of November 2025

Read Genesis 2:15 and Genesis 3:17-24. What were the consequences of the Fall, as far as the living space of the first human couple was concerned?

At Creation, God placed Adam and Eve in a perfect environment that embodied abundance and beauty. The first human couple met their Creator in the setting of a lovely living space that could provide for all their physical needs. In addition to the spoken word of God, the Garden of Eden served as a learning center where Adam and Eve gained significant insight into God’s character and the life He intended for them.

Therefore, when they broke the trusting relationship with their Creator, their relationship with the Garden of Eden changed as well, and as a sign of the broken relationship, they had to leave the garden. They lost the territory that God had given to them. Thus, the Garden of Eden became the symbol of abundant life, and we will rediscover its motifs in the theme of the Promised Land.

How did the patriarchs perceive the promise of the land? (See Genesis 13:14-15; Genesis 26:3,24; Genesis 28:13.) What do you think it means to us, as Adventists, to live as heirs of the promises (Hebrews 6:11-15)?

As Abraham entered the land God had shown him, by faith that land became the Land of Promise to him and his descendants. It remained the Land of Promise for 400 years. The patriarchs did not really own the land; it was not theirs in such a way that they were able to give it to their children as an inheritance. Rather, it belonged to God, as the Garden of Eden had belonged to Him. As Adam and Eve did not do anything that entitled them to the Garden of Eden, Israel had not contributed anything to deserve the land either. The Promised Land was a gift of God based on His initiative. Israel had no inherent right or claim to own the land (Deuteronomy 9:4-6); it was only by God’s grace that the Israelites could possess it.

The patriarchs were heirs of the promises until they were fulfilled. We, as Christ’s followers, have inherited even better promises (Hebrews 8:6) that will be fulfilled if we become “imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises” (Hebrews 6:12, RSV).

Lessons of Faith from Joshua – Lesson 9.Heirs of the Promise, Prisoners of Hope | 📘 Sabbath School with Pastor Mark Finley

November 22, 2025 By admin

Series LESSONS OF FAITH FROM JOSHUA with Pastor Mark Finley
Lesson 9.Heirs of the Promise, Prisoners of Hope
Between Loss and Promise – God’s Plan with His People
Introduction:
God’s promises to His people were always more than material blessings – they were expressions of His faithfulness, care, and redemptive plan. The Promised Land played a special role in this: it symbolized freedom, identity, and the presence of God. Yet ownership of the land was not an automatic right, but was tied to the covenant with God. Israel had to learn that grace is a gift to be received through trust and obedience. Despite failure and exile, God’s promise remained – with a view toward ultimate restoration. In Christ, we see that our true inheritance goes far beyond earthly borders: it is the new earth where God will dwell with His people forever.
Content:
9.1 Eden and Canaan

Two Gardens of Promise
The Garden of Eden was humanity’s first home – a place of abundance, closeness to God, and perfect harmony. Through the Fall, Adam and Eve lost not only their home but also direct communion with God. Eden became a symbol of what was lost through sin. Later, God gave the patriarchs the promise of the land of Canaan – a new symbol of divine care and hope. Like Eden, Canaan was a gift given solely by God’s grace, not human merit. As Adventists today, we live in faith toward an even greater promise – the heavenly Canaan – and are called, like the patriarchs, to inherit this hope through faith and perseverance.
9.2 The Land as a Gift
Living in Covenant with God
The Promised Land was not Israel’s property in the modern sense, but a gift from God that could only be retained within the framework of covenantal obedience. This special relationship emphasized their complete dependence on God’s faithfulness, provision, and blessing. The land was a visible sign of divine grace and was meant to constantly remind Israel of the Giver – not just the gift. Transitioning from Egypt’s controlled irrigation to Canaan’s rain-dependent agriculture, God taught His people to trust in Him. As the land’s true owner, God remained Lord – Israel were merely guests. Likewise, we today are spiritual strangers and pilgrims, looking forward to a better homeland – a city whose builder and maker is God (Hebrews 11:10).
9.3 The Challenge of the Land
Receiving Grace, Living Responsibly
Although the Promised Land was a gift from God, the Israelites faced real challenges in taking possession of it by trusting in God’s leadership. Their military weakness made it clear: victory would not be by their own strength, but through divine grace. Yet the gift came with responsibility – the land had to be faithfully inhabited, cared for, and defended. The same applies to Christians today: salvation is a gift, but it demands a response of obedience and perseverance in faith. God works in us, but we are called to live in “obedience of faith” (Philippians 2:12). Life in God’s kingdom means actively and responsibly living out the inheritance we have received.
9.4 The Jubilee
Justice, Grace, and New Beginnings in God’s Rhythm
The Year of Jubilee expressed God’s social justice and care for all people – especially the weak. It provided regular opportunities for economic release, social restoration, and a fresh start for the disadvantaged. Unlike Egypt’s unjust systems, God’s laws prevented permanent poverty and land loss. The Sabbath year and the Year of Jubilee reminded Israel that the land belongs to God and they were merely stewards of His gifts. These principles call us today to live lives of solidarity, mercy, and trust rather than exploitation. The Sabbath helps us embody God’s principle of equality – free from greed, performance pressure, and social inequality.
9.5 The Land Restored
The Final Promise Beyond Borders
Israel’s return from Babylonian exile was a sign of divine faithfulness, but only a foretaste of a much deeper restoration. God showed that His relationship with His people was not limited to geographic borders, but depended on their hearts. The Old Testament prophets announced an even greater return – under the rule of a future Davidic king, fulfilled in Jesus Christ. In Him, all promises were realized – not only for Israel, but for all believers. In the New Testament, the Promised Land becomes a symbol of our eternal home with God – the new earth. This hope is secured by Jesus’ death and resurrection and will be fully realized at His return, when God’s people will enter their true, eternal inheritance.
9.6 Summary
Living Between Gift and Hope
Lesson 9 shows that the Promised Land was a central element in God’s plan for His people – not as a reward, but as an expression of divine grace. From Eden to Canaan, it is clear that God not only wanted to give His children a home but also to lead them into a deep relationship with Himself. Possessing the land came with challenges that required faith, obedience, and trust in God’s guidance. Principles such as the Year of Jubilee highlight God’s concern for justice, renewal, and equality. Even though Israel failed, God’s promise remained and was ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Our hope as Christians now points toward the true Promised Land – the new earth, where God Himself will dwell with His people forever.

The Gospel of Garbanzo Beans

November 22, 2025 By admin

Crouched on the linoleum floor of my local food pantry, with the metal shelf digging into my shoulder and shopping cart wheels hitting my hip as I dug out the last packet of dried garbanzo beans for the old woman above me, felt like evangelism. After the initial cut to food benefits on November 1, […] Source: https://atoday.org/the-gospel-of-garbanzo-beans/
