We serve a Mighty God who rescues.
In Isaiah 9:6, there's a beautiful prophecy about a baby born to be the Savior for all of us. This baby, Jesus, is called “Mighty God Who Rescues.” (El Gibhor) Imagine that — a God who not only created the universe but also reaches out to save each one of us personally. So, how does God rescue us? One of the ways He offers us rescue and relief is through the Sabbath. It's like a weekly rescue operation from the hustle and bustle of life, reminding us of His love and care. Will you let Him rescue you this Sabbath? By embracing the rest and peace that the Sabbath offers, you're allowing God to work in your life, to lift your burdens, and to give you strength for the week ahead. Happy Sabbath, Friends! Grounded and Focused – Pastor Erton Köhler
In this episode of From the Heart, Pastor Erton Köhler, president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, explores what it truly means to be grounded in the Bible and focused on the mission. These are not just words to repeat, they are a way of living that gives us direction when everything around us changes. To be grounded in the Bible means letting its message take root in our hearts until it shapes the way we think, feel, and live. The Bible is not just a book about the past, it speaks to the present. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16). But being grounded in the Bible does not lead us to isolation; it leads us to mission. When truth takes root, it bears fruit. Pastor Köhler shares examples from around the world: in Mongolia, wellness centers connect physical healing with spiritual hope; in South America, over 1.3 million young people have served through Mission Caleb; across continents, believers find creative ways to reach their communities with compassion and truth. To be grounded in the Bible is to hold tightly to truth. To be focused on the mission is to hold out our hands in love. Truth without mission becomes theory. Mission without truth becomes noise. But truth and mission together become transformation. About the series From the Heart is a weekly devotional series in which Pastor Köhler reflects on what it means to be grounded in the Bible and focused on the mission, collectively and individually. Each episode is grounded in the four pillars of the Seventh-day Adventist Church strategic plan: Communion with God, Identity in Christ, Unity through the Holy Spirit, and Mission for All. The series connects biblical faith to everyday life, sharing short reflections and glimpses of how God is at work through the Adventist Church around the world.
