In this video, Pastor Ted Wilson will talk about the church’s worldwide Week of Prayer and living a Christian lifestyle. Week of Prayer is a time when the entire world church comes together in prayer and is blessed by a series of special readings and sermons that are found in the November issue of the Adventist World magazine. You can access this special issue by visiting adventistworld.org and clicking on the Week of Prayer issue. Just before His ascension, Jesus Christ gave His followers an important commission—to reach the world for Him. This well-known passage is found in Matthew 28:18-20 – “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” This command to “Go,” is part of the new strategic plan for the world church, called “I Will Go.” It’s an invitation to “Go” wherever the Lord may lead you to reach others for Him. Learn more about “I Will Go” at iwillgo2020.org The theme for this coming Week of Prayer is “Reach the World: Faithfulness in Christian Lifestyle.” What does Christian lifestyle have to do with reaching the world for Christ? The answer is—a lot! Because who we are as Christians is revealed by how we live our lives. What are our values and priorities? How do we spend our time and resources? What kind of life are we living? Jesus is our example, and it is only through His grace and power that we can be faithful to His calling as we lean completely on Christ and His Word. God’s Word is proven trustworthy. It lights our way and gives us reliable, divine direction. It provides the very foundation for developing and maintaining a relationship with Jesus Christ, and for learning what it means to live the life He intends for us. It is Christ’s living Word — timeless Truth that transcends all earthly cultures and points us to the culture of heaven. As we consecrate ourselves to God and surrender our plans to Him each day, how important it is to take time to pray and to listen to Him speak through His Word. Let us humbly pray for the promised latter rain of the Holy Spirit and the power only He can give in helping us to live our lives for Him! How Powerful and Essential are the Contributions of Ethnic Authors to ESDA
Ethnic diversity is a beautiful complexity. Ethnicities have been bringing vibrant colors to the online Seventh-day Adventist encyclopedia.
In this podcast episode, let's join Dr. David Trim and Dr. Dragoslava Santrac, editors of ESDA. Together with them is the online reference's first Managing Editor, Dr. Benjamin Baker. Interestingly, Dr. Baker considers being part of ESDA like a dream job for him. ESDA as Adventist Learning Community
The Adventist archive continues to grow with long-lasting articles from ethnic authors.
ESDA has rich sources of inspiring stories from history. It includes real stories of people in the field. You'll find that its substance about inspiring stories from different ethnicities is indispensable.
With this online resource, all have full access to revisit the past of Adventism in all corners of the world. One can have a clearer and better perspective about history, which impacts the present and the future. Important Contribution of Ethnic Authors to ESDA
Having writers hailing from the field promotes equality on the importance of people. For example, ESDA relates undocumented or unwritten stories of African missionaries. This changes our mindsets from our judgment of people. As we read their stories from their perspective, we avoid social biases. This then builds bridges and not walls. A Miraculous Jewish Story Frederick Carnes Cohen Gilbert was a Jew who despised Christians, but he had to live under the wings of his Christian guardians. As he witnessed the lifestyle and compassion of these people, his heart melted. He eventually became a pioneering Jewish Adventist evangelist in 1965. Pastor Wilson Reminds Us to Press Close to Jesus Through the Storm
How can we press close to #Jesus during these times of uncertainty? In this video, Pastor Ted Wilson reminds us of a story in the Bible when the disciples put their trust in Jesus through the storm. Since the start of #COVID-19 our world has turned upside down and grown more unstable and uncertain. Just about everywhere we turn we see unease, unrest, and uncertainty. Things don’t seem to be getting better, and many hearts are filled with anxiety, fearful about what lies ahead. While times and situations may change, fear and anxiety are not new. Tracing back into history 2,000 years ago, we can see it in the faces of Christ’s #disciples and hear it in their voices as they are sure they are going to drown in the Sea of Galilee. It had been a fairly normal day, filled with activity as Jesus taught and healed the many people who crowded around Him. But now it was time to leave and get some much-needed rest. The evening was calm and pleasant as Jesus and the disciples stepped into the wooden boat. Soon, Jesus was fast asleep in the back of the boat. Quickly, however, everything changed. Deep darkness spread across the sky as the wind swept wildly down the mountain gorges along the eastern shore, causing a fierce tempest to suddenly burst upon the lake. The disciples were terrified. It was so dark they could no longer see Jesus. And their voices were drowned out by the terrible storm. Where was Jesus? Had He forsaken them? Absorbed by trying to save themselves, they rowed harder, and forgot about Jesus. It was only as a lightning bolt lit up the sky that they saw Jesus, asleep in the back. He was there in the boat with them the whole time. Amazed, they woke Him up and in despair cried out, “Master, don’t you care that we are perishing?” Instantly, the storm stops. Imagine it. Suddenly, the Sea is calm again. And so are the amazed disciples. We are indeed in the midst of a storm—a storm of uncertainty and fear. But we know that an even greater storm is coming. As we go through these turbulent, unpredictable, and even frightening times, let’s press close to Jesus, knowing that He is with us in the storm and wants to teach us valuable lessons of faith and trust right now, which will help us now and in the future. 00:00 Greetings
