If you’ve followed the saga of the rebels of Mindoro, Philippines, and their miraculous transformation from assassins to followers of Jesus, you know that many of their personal stories are still ongoing, and we often share them with you. One such story is that of Rose, a former four-star general and assassin in the NPA (New People’s Army). At one time, she was on the government’s “Most Wanted” list, until one day everything changed. It began when AWR started blanketing the island with the Adventist message of salvation and the soon return of Jesus. Whole villages were converted just from the radio broadcasts, and we were kept busy attending to the requests that kept coming in from throughout the island. But unbeknownst to us, the NPA rebels were also listening deep in the jungle mountains. It took them longer to respond, but one night, they finally ventured out of their hiding places and made contact with our radio station. Not only did they want to accept Jesus, but they wanted AWR to negotiate their surrender to the authorities. You know the rest of the story and the incredible chain of events that followed as these hardened men and women were changed by the love of Jesus. She summed it up best when she said, “I want everyone to know that this Jesus changed my heart of stone to one of peace.” We love to witness lives changed for the kingdom of heaven, and we especially love it when God uses Adventist World Radio to do it!
