Katri – A War Orphan
Katri Sinikka was born a war orphan in Vaasa, Finland, on 1 July 1940. Her parents, August Uolevi Anttinen and Mirjam Kajankangas, got married, and shortly afterwards, her father ‘August’, went to war to defend his country (Finland) against the Russian Invasion. He was one of the first war officers killed in action by the Russians on 23 December 1939. As a result, Katri never saw or knew her father.

The General Conference (GC), Trans-European Division (TED), British Union Conference (BUC), and North England Conference (NEC) got together on Sabbath, 24 June 2023, to celebrate the blessings and success of the Women’s Ministries Emphasis Days held worldwide in our local churches every year. We were saddened to learn of the death of Becky De Oliveira, who passed away on 21 June 2023. Becky was born on 18 November 1971 in Enumclaw, Washington, North America.
After completing high school at Auburn Adventist Academy in 1990, Becky attended Walla Walla College where she obtained a BA in History. In 1997 Becky obtained her MA in Education from Andrews University and in 2022 obtained her PhD from the University of Northern Colorado.
