Wednesday: The Woman in the Wilderness

March 28, 2023 By admin

Read Revelation 12:6 and compare it to Revelation 12:14-16. Notice carefully the time period, Satan’s attack on the “woman” (God’s church), and God’s provision for His people. What are these verses talking about?

The 1,260 days in Revelation 12:6 are parallel to the time, times, and half a time in Revelation 12:14. This same time prophecy describing the same time period is found in Daniel 7:25, Revelation 11:2-3,, and Revelation 13:5. Because these are prophetic symbols (a literal woman with wings did not go into the wilderness), we apply prophetic time, the day-year principle (see, for instance, Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:4-6) to these prophecies. This means, simply, that one prophetic day equals one year. Commenting on this same prophetic period of time in Revelation 11:2, the Andrews University Study Bible states, “Historicist interpreters, therefore, have generally understood the period of 1,260 prophetic days to mean 1,260 literal years running from A.D. 538 to 1798” (p. 1,673 comments on Revelation 11:2). A corrupt church — together with a corrupt state &mdash oppressed, persecuted, and at times slaughtered God’s faithful people.

This fierce, satanic persecution of Bible-believing Christians was an extension of the great controversy between good and evil. Coming out of the darkness of the Middle Ages, at the time of the Reformation, men and women were faced with a choice. Would they be faithful to the Word of God, or would they accept the teachings of priests and prelates? Once again truth triumphed, and God had a people who were faithful to Him in the face of mighty opposition.

There are some fascinating and extremely encouraging expressions of God’s care in these verses. Revelation 12:6 uses the expression, “a place prepared by God” (NKJV). Revelation 12:14 declares that the woman was “nourished” in the wilderness, and Revelation 12:16 declares, “The earth helped the woman.” At times of severe persecution, God provided for His church. As He did then, He will do the same for His end-time remnant.

Describe a time of trial or difficulty in your own life when you could easily have become discouraged, but God provided a place of refuge for you and nourished you in your challenges. How did God provide support when you needed it most?

1: Jesus Wins, Satan Loses – Teaching Plan

March 28, 2023 By admin

Key Thought: The theme of the last book in the Bible, Revelation, is that Jesus wins and Satn loses. The heart of the battle is in Revelation 12.
April 1, 2023

1. Have a volunteer read Revelation 12:7-9.

  1. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
  2. How could something like this happen in heaven?
  3. Personal Application: What does the war in heaven tell us about free will? If God knows everything, why did He let it happen? Share your thoughts.
  4. Case Study: One of your relatives states, “Why didn’t God just destroy Satan as soon as he started to rebel and lead the angels away from God?” How would you respond to your relative?

2. Have a volunteer read Revelation 12:4-6,9.

  1. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
  2. What do the dragon, the woman, the man-child, and the rod of iron represent?
  3. Personal Application: How did Satn persecute the woman after Christ left, and how did he try to kill the baby as soon as he has born? Share your thoughts
  4. Case Study: One of your friends states, “Why did God send the devil to the earth? Couldn’t He have destroyed him or sent him somewhere else in the universe where he couldn’t bother anyone?” How would you respond to your friend?

3. Have a volunteer read Revelation 12:17.

  1. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
  2. What does the remnant of the woman’s seed represent and why is Satan so angry with them?
  3. Personal Application: What does the testimony of Jesus mean to you? (See Rev 19:10, 22:9) What does having the gift of prophecy mean to you? Share your thoughts.
  4. Case Study: One of your neighbors states: “Keeping God’s commandments is legalism. Jesus said obedience depends on loving God and man. So Satan hates those who show love. Satan doesn’t love, nor those who are following him. Love is accepting and encouraging everyone. We shouldn’t worry about how people live, speak, or act. We should be accepting and not confrontational or accusatory of anyone.” How would you respond to your relative?

4. Have a volunteer read Revelation 12:10-16.

  1. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
  2. Where is the wilderness and what is the earth that helped the woman?
  3. Personal Application: What is the time, times, and half a time mentioned here?
    Share your thoughts.
(Note: 360 days, + 720 days + 180 days or years = 1260 days or years. 538AD Justinian’s Code – 1798AD Berthier took the Pope captive. 1260 years of Papal supremacy in political control in affairs in Europe.)
  4. Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.

(Truth that is not lived, that is not imparted, loses its life-giving power, its healing virtue. Its blessings can be retained only as it is shared.”Ministry of Healing, p. 148).

Amen!(0)

Tuesday: Accepting Jesus’ Victory

March 27, 2023 By admin

As depicted in the Bible, Jesus has never lost a battle with Satan. He is the mighty conqueror. The victor over the powers of evil. It is one thing to believe that Jesus was victorious over the temptations of Satan; it is quite another thing to believe that Christ’s victory is our victory, as well.

Read Revelation 12:10. What encouragement should you get from the fact that your accuser “has been cast down” (NKJV)?

Although the battle still rages on earth, Satan has lost. Period. This is true not only of Christ’s ultimate victory at the climax of human history, but it is also true in our battle over the principalities and powers of evil in our personal lives. Some Christians live in frustrated defeat. They are hoping for victory over some attitude or habit but never grasp the reality of Christ’s victory for them in their personal lives.

Read Revelation 12:11. What assurance of victory does Christ give us in this passage?
Christ in Gethsemane

Seven times in Revelation’s messages to the seven churches we find the expression, “he who overcomes.” Here in Revelation 12:11 we find this concept of overcoming again. The word “overcome” in the original language of the text is nikao. It can be literally translated “to conquer, to prevail, to triumph, or to come through victoriously.” Notice how it is possible for us to be overcomers. Revelation 12:11 affirms that it is “by the blood of the Lamb.”

In Revelation 5:6, in prophetic vision, John gazes into heaven and sees “a Lamb as though it had been slain” (NKJV). The sacrifice of Christ is the focus of the attention of all of heaven. There is nothing more sublime to demonstrate the infinite, unfathomable love of God than the cross.

When we accept by faith what Christ has done for us, our debt is canceled, and we stand perfect in the sight of God. Our sins are forgiven (Colossians 1:14, Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 2:14), and the “accuser of our brethren … has been cast down” (Revelation 12:10, NKJV). We are redeemed, victorious, and saved, not because of our own merits but because of Christ’s victories in our behalf.

1 Jesus Wins – Satan Loses – Singing with Inspiration

March 27, 2023 By admin

“Three Cosmic Messages” encourages us to
Watch Ye Saints – Hymn 598 as we near the end of this old world’s history to witness the Second Coming of our Lord, and Saviour, Jesus Christ. This is a wonderful hymn to give courage, dear people, and is our theme for this quarter.

We will be noting at times throughout the quarter that
“Tis Almost Time For The Lord To Come – Hymn 212 and we should be proclaiming the message that
Jesus Is Coming Again – Hymn 213.

It is with joy that I read the Sabbath afternoon’s introduction to the study this week, Jesus Wins – Satan Loses. Hallelujah!!! Reading on I am encouraged to
Fight the Good Fight – Hymn 613 and
Sound The Battle Cry – Hymn 614, then to
Stand Like The Brave – Hymn 610 because
Faith Is The Victory – Hymn 608.

Following “The Battle in Heaven” (Sunday), it is so reassuring to know
The King Of Love My Shepherd Is – Hymn 197 and that I will see Jesus
Face To Face – Hymn 206.

Tuesday reiterates the theme of the week of the wondrous love of God for humankind:
Hymn 79 – O Love Of God all because there is
Power In The Blood – Hymn 294.

Following “The Woman in the Wilderness” time in earth’s history Martin Luther encouraged everyone with
A Mighty Fortress Is Our God – Hymn 506.

So, dear people, be encouraged to go forward and
“Lift up the trumpet and loud let it ring, Jesus IS coming again” – Hymn 213.

To learn unknown hymns, you will find the accompaniment music for each one at: https://sdahymnals.com/Hymnal/

Another great resource is for when there is a hymn you wish to sing but can’t find it in your hymnal. Go to https://www.sdahymnal.org/Search and in the search bar type a special word in that is in the hymn. I am sure you will be amazed at the help you will be given.

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Amen!(0)
