The 2019 Adventist Christian Fellowship (ACF) Institute was hosted at the University of California, Berkeley, on May 20-25. About 80 students from the U.S. and Canada attended. Some had attended previous years, but most of them were new to the ACF Institute. The theme for this year is “Be the Difference.”
The second annual Public Campus Ministers Conference was also held at the same location. Attendance increased from eight in 2018 to 45 this year from across the NAD.

Adventist Church in Costa Rica and Nicaragua commit to reaching former members
The Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Central American Union, which comprises of Costa Rica and Nicaragua, officially launched Inter-America’s territory-wide initiative to seek out former church members during a special training throughout its six regional church fields. More than 1,300 church elders, pastors, and Sabbath school leaders gathered earlier this month to be trained in how to reach former members and bring them back to the church.

Adventist doctor pioneers possible cancer cure
An Adventist doctor from Sydney is at the forefront of a revolutionary treatment that could potentially cure cancer.
In an interview with Australian current affairs program 60 Minutes, Dr. Ken Micklethwaite from the Westmead Institute said he and his team have been working with modified immune cells, called CAR T cells, which could help cure blood cancer. In regular circumstances, our immune system cannot distinguish cancer cells from regular cells. However, these modified CAR T cells can.

Washington Adventist University’s Enactus Team places third at national exposition
The Washington Adventist University (WAU) Enactus Team received a 3rd place award in the Opening Round of the 2019 Enactus National Exposition held in Kansas City, Missouri held May 5-7, 2019. The competition featured 86 universities who for three days presented their entrepreneurial-based projects aimed at empowering their communities.

Adventist University will participate in Pan American Games Lima 2019
The Universidad Peruana Unión (UPeU) signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement with the Special Project for the Preparation and Development of the 2019 XVIII Pan American Games and Sixth Parapan American Games on Thursday, May 30, 2019.
The agreement will enable students to participate as volunteers on the staff team of the Pan American Games, through the establishment of terms of coordination and mutual cooperation within the framework of the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program.
