Adventists make Três Rios residents aware of effects of child sexual violence
The Breaking the Silence campaign, organized by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in South America, took place in the community of Três Rios, in the interior of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 4th. It has been held annually, in August, since 2002, in eight South American countries: Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. In North Colombia, Adventist University provides Venezuela migrant families with business opportunities
Jhonny Alberto Peña clearly remembers March 22. It was the day he left his native Venezuela for the city of Medellin in neighboring Colombia.
“It was hard when I left, to leave my family, my small babies, my wife, in search of a better future for them,” said Peña.
Peña now lives in Medellin, together with his family who joined him three months ago. His family, like many migrant Venezuelan families, fled the political and economic turmoil in Venezuela in search of a better life.
