9: the Second Missionary Journey – Singing with Inspiration

August 27, 2018 By admin

The memory verse tells our missionaries to “keep on speaking”:  Hymn 378, “Go, Preach My Gospel”  and  Hymn 368, “Watchman, Blow the Gospel Trumpet” . The missionaries were to  “Work, for the Night Is Coming”   – Hymn 375 , along with  Hymn 582, “Working, O Christ, With Thee” . Paul chose to travel several places (on Sunday) with the Holy Spirit not allowing those journeys to take place.  Hymn 573, “I’ll Go Where You Want Me to Go”  is what Paul’s response was to God’s vision to go to Macedonia. Paul would always go and worship in the synagogue on the Sabbath: Hymn 388, “Don’t Forget the Sabbath” Hymn 390, “We Love Thy Sabbath, Lord” . Faith is the second topic on Monday: Hymn 533, “O for a Faith”  and  Hymn 602, “O Brother, Be Faithful”

Friday: Further Study – The Jerusalem Council

August 23, 2018 By admin

Further Study:  “The Jewish converts generally were not inclined to move as rapidly as the providence of God opened the way. From the result of the apostles’ labors among the Gentiles it was evident that the converts among the latter people would far exceed the Jewish converts in number. Image © Stan Myers from GoodSalt.com The Jews feared that if the restrictions and ceremonies of their law were not made obligatory upon the Gentiles as a condition of church fellowship, the national peculiarities of the Jews, which had hitherto kept them distinct from all other people, would finally disappear from among those who received the gospel message.”—Ellen G

Circumcision of the Heart

August 22, 2018 By admin

While I was away on a brief vacation this summer, a friend covering a family Bible study in my place called. Apparently the family was reading through Genesis on their own. After learning what circumcision is, the family’s young daughter asked my friend a question the family could not answer
